Task 3 Evaluation
The process for the research part of enter the pitch was very helpful to come up
with an idea because it gave me a lot of insight into the book of Joshua and how
to create a story out of it. I chose to use many sites as information for my story of
choice but first I decided to look at the Old Testament. Once I found the story I
was looking for which was the Book of Joshua, I looked deeper into the story and
found out about the battle of Jericho. When researching the battle of Jericho I
decided to use wiki and bible story as the sites for inspiration. I would say my
strengths for finding research techniques are picking a method that’s easy for me
and that’s basically picking bits of the research I’ve found and putting it together
to create a basis for ideas for my film.
Once I’ve got the information I need I would usually try and write it into my own
words, so I can make it easier for myself. My weaknesses are usually forgetting
what to right next or struggling to actually right the ideas down, which I have in
my head. When using the reliable sources I decided I had chosen the right ones
for me, when researching sources I had chosen wiki as one and bible story as I’ve
said before because they had the best information for my story. Also when
researching Joshua and the battle of Jericho, I found two films about the event in
the Old Testament. Both being a strait to video release both had weak reviews
and were a exact telling of the story itself.
When talking about reliability I did all the research myself but as being reliable
on the research itself, I relied on it a lot when finding research because before
doing enter the pitch I had no idea of any stories in the bible. I did use Internet
very heavily when researching due to the brief example in the bible itself. I did
find the Internet and the many sites I used actually more helpful than the bible
itself because it was easier to understand.
Things I could of done better were actually leaving myself enough time over the
summer to do more research and actually use one story form the book of Joshua
instead of multiple parts from the book like the battle of Jericho but it helped
because it gave me a perfect idea for the short film. Once I finished doing
research on the bible story, I did some research about my genre/style of film I
was doing. Which was a biker story that was on the lines of a action/adventure
film that would centre on a biker gang led my there president Joshua. When
researching this I chose three films as a inspiration, one being the warriors, easy
rider and the wild one because they were the most known ones based around my
ideas for my idea.
The outcome for my short film was actually very good and my peers liked my
idea. I also made sure a 100% that it was accurate to the original story basses
from the Old Testament. I made sure that my film didn’t breach any ethical issues
by finding out about how I could still keep my biker film in the lines with the
actual Hebrew and Christian names by researching names on the internet for
suitable names. The recommendations I’ve had is to make my pitch more of a
trailer style or get concept art because personally my pitch was very rushed
towards the end, due to me spending more time on the actual paperwork instead
of the pitch itself.
