• BBYO- B’nai B’rith Youth Organization
• I$F- International Service Fund
• MBA- Mind, Body, Attitude
• MIT- Member in Training
• Shomeret Ha’brit- Person with quotes
• Sweetheart/Beau- An honorary member in the chapter of the opposite sex

• CLTC- Chapter Leadership Training Conference
• ILSI- International Leadership Study in Israel
• ILTC- International Leadership Training Conference
• Kallah- a Jewish based summer program, or any program
the ones in blue are harder, get the older more educated members to help the MIT’s with these!
My Tip:
You can use these terms in a game to help MIT’s learn the acronyms. You could split them into teams
and get them to guess what each acronym means. Then get each team to present what they think
each terms means and see which team got the most right! Just make it a fun learning activity!
Positions/ The board
N’siah (President)-She is the head of the chapter and oversees the other officers. She runs the meetings
& makes sure that everything runs smoothly. She serves as a link between the chapter and the council.
S’ganit (Vice President)-She plans and directs the six fold activities and all programming. She also runs
the chapter board meetings and assumes the duties of N’siah in her absence.
Aym Ha Chaverot, Morah, MIT Mom (VP of Membership)-She recruits new members and educates
them. She is also responsible for chapter retention. She has MIT meetings and teaches the Zericha and
BBG traditions.
Sh’licha (VP of Jewish Heritage)-She doesn’t let us forget that BBYO is based on Judaism. She plans
services, community service and social action activities. She informs us of the current events going on in
our Jewish community and Israel.
Mazkirah (Secretary)-She is responsible for taking minutes at all meetings and informing the chapter by
phone about meetings and programs. She compiles a chapter roster and distributes it.
Gizborit (Treasurer)-She maintains financial records. She also plans fundraisers for the chapter and I$F.
She collects chapter dues.
Madricha (Past President)-She is a counselor to the N’siah and the board. She offers her guidance and
advice
My Tip:
We NEED to make sure our MIT’s know these terms because we want them to run for these positions
in the future! You could make some sort of mini rotations where each rotation has an activity that
each position would usually have to do. For example: at the Mazkirah rotation get girls to design a
flyer for an event. This will give girls a feel for each position.
BBG Heartbeat
It’s not just the pin and the way you wear it
But the love you receive and the way you share it
It’s not just the screams and the cheers
But the memories of much laughter and tears
It’s not just a feeling you get when someone says “hi”
But the heaviness in your heart when you have to say goodbye
It’s not just how many calls and letters you read
But the friend who sent them, which we all need
It’s not just an organization, which is a place to me
But so much more, just you wait and see
No, it’s not just an interesting little pin
But the heart behind it, and the body within
My Tip:
this is SOOO cute; I think ALL BBG’s should know this. Definitely teach this at a program. Maybe even
make a video of your chapter saying this. It would be so cute!
BBYO Ceremonies
Good and Welfare
All members attending a function are given the opportunity to express her feelings
about the chapter, function, or basically anything. A gavel, or a lighted candle, or
anything else are passed from member to member as they speak.
Friendship Circle
At the end of a function, everyone forms a circle. At conventions, coordinators are
given the opportunity to talk about the convention. Friendship Circles are usually
followed by a cheering session. This creates sisterhood and friendship.
Inductions
This ceremony is used to officially bring MITs into the C/C/R. It signifies that MITs
have successfully completed their training and are ready to assume the responsibilities
of a chapter member, such as wearing a pin and voting. The ceremony is planning by
the MIT Mom and should be creative and memorable.
Installations
After the election of new officers, this ceremony is planned to officially install the
officer into her position as well as to discharge the old officer. The ceremony can
consist of lighting candles, making speeches, handing down officer paraphernalia
(special jewelry, files, t-shirts, etc).
Life
Life membership is given to a graduating senior who has given her time and energy to
BBG. Life is given on all levels of BBYO (C/C/R/ International). The criteria to receive
life are different in each level in each different region. The member receiving life
usually has a set time to discuss her life in BBG and what is important to her. The
actual ceremony is different depending where the member is from.
Menorah Pledge
The menorah pledge is used at the beginning of each BBG meeting. The candles of the
menorah are lit, each signifying a different principle of BBG. The principles are:
citizenship, Jewish heritage, community service, philanthropy, interfaith relations,
tradition, and good sisterhood. The pledge can be found on the last page of the BBG
handbook, “This is Our Order.”
State/Midstate
This is a speech delivered at the end or in the middle of a N’siah’s term to discuss the
problems in the C/C/R/International and to offer solutions to these problems. Ideas,
goals for the future, and accomplishments are also discussed. The ceremony is
coordinated by the S’ganit and can range from a formal ceremony with processions to anything she
wants to make it.
My Tip:
Out MIT’s should be familiar with these ceremonies so that when they happen there not like “ what is
this and why am I here?” You guys could do a jeopardy game. Or you can act out what each ceremony
would like by doing a quick skit and make the MIT’s guess which one you guys are doing.

Look at me, I'm a BBG
(to the tune of "Sandra Dee" from
Grease)
Look at me, I'm a BBG
Lousy without an NJB, (Nice Jewish Boy)
Wholesome and pink, at least that's what
they think,
I'm just a BBG.
Hey you, you're not a Jew,
I cannot go out with you,
You're a really nice guy,
But you don't wear a chai,
I'm just a BBG.
Hey you, AZA,
I was not brought up that way,
Keep yourself in your pants,
You can wait till beau dance,
I am just a BBG !!!!!!
Identity
Identity, Identity
Who am I? A BBG.
I am one, though only one.
There's so much I can do
We don’t want that AZA ( tune of ‘I want it that way”)
We are on fire,
We are desired,
Don’t doubt, when we say we don’t want that AZA
Tell me why?
There really not goodlooking
Tell me why?
Their really bad at snuggling
Tell my?
We never want to hear you say,
Damn I want that AZA
We Pledge to Thee
We pledge to thee, oh BBG
Our love, our youth, our loyalty
We sing to thee with joyous sounds
Our voices reach the sky
From Zion came the white and blue
To give these colors bold and true
Our loyal daughters gather round to raise our
flag on high!
EASY AND FUN WAYS TO TEACH YOUR MIT’S OUR BBG SONGS
* this can be used at any chapter program NOT just an MIT night! *
1. The simplest way that you can teach MIT’s at any program or MIT night is sing and Repeat! Type
out the lyrics to all your favorite songs, and then sit down with your MITs. After you sing a line,
have them repeat after you.
2. Make music videos! Split the girls up into groups and assign each group their own BBG
song/cheer. Give them a video camera and let them have tons of fun!
3. Print out all of the songs/cheers. Put the papers in-between two pieces of construction paper
and hole punch the sides. Put ribbon through the holes to create a booklet, and decorate your
new BBG song/cheer book!
4. Name that tune...or BBG song or cheer! Give the girls you are teaching a line or two from the
song and then have them guess what song it is you are singing! Hand out fun prizes to the girls
who give the right answer!
5. BBG song scrambler! Cut up all the words to a BBG song and let your members work together to
put the cheer back together!
6. BBG song treasure hunt! Cut up the lines of a BBG song or cheer and hide them in plastic bags
around your house or backyard. Then provide each team with a list of clues to try and figure out
the location of each of the bags. Once they have found them all, tell them they must quickly get
back to a central meeting place, glue the lyrics in the correct order onto a piece of paper, and
have everyone be able to sing it!
7. Print out the lyrics to the songs and paste them in large fonts onto poster boards. Again, sing
and repeat, but afterward let everyone decorate the posters!
BIG SIS/LIL SIS
Start up a Little sis/Big sis thing in your chapter, this is an amazing way to get new members
involved. This way at all chapter programs where you need partners or anything, the big and
lil sis would go together. Also, the big sis will make sure to always keep in touch with the little
sis by sending her fb messages, calling her and always inviting her to come out to events. If
you don’t know what big and lil sis mean, it basically means pairing up an involved and
educated member with a new one to get the new member more engaged.
This is strongly encouraged!
Hope this helps,
Love,
