Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy was written by Dante. People say that the book is
like taking a journey into Hell. The main section of the book which is called the Inferno.
The Inferno described the the journey through Hell from when he enters Hell and his
journey through. This had a large social impact because it was one of his most famous
writings that many people read. This also had a large economic impact because it shows
the religious people showing what Hell was like.

image depicts victims of the plague being buried. The people that are being buried are the
people of Tournai in 1349. This image also depicts that they make coffins out of pieces of
lumber. The lumber is being brought in by men on the left of the picture to make the
coffins. Then there are people that are digging holes for the coffins to go into. Then two
people are placing the coffins placed into the holes that were dug. It also depicts that
socially many people died because of the Black Death. It also shows the economic affect
because so many people had to work just to bury the people.

Domesday Book. The Domesday Book was created by William the Conquer. The book
was used for determining taxes that were owed to the king. The Domesday book was also
used to keep track of the population of England. Also in the book you can find the
amount of land that was used for farming, how much was used as and urban area and how
much was a forested area. The Domesday Book was divided into two volumes. One was
called the Great Domesday and the other was Little Domesday.

ple&option=all>. This image shows the flying buttresses that were built in the churches
in medieval times. The economical affect the flying buttresses had was it allowed
builders to build bigger and fancier churches. The flying buttresses allowed the builders
to put large stain glass windows and make higher ceilings in the churches. The social
affect of the flying buttresses made more jobs for other people because it took more
people to build the churches. The construction of the Reims Cathedral in 1211 and took
80 years to build.

Pope Urban 2 a petition to start the first Crusade. In this the people around Pope Urban 2,
who is sitting in the middle, is the Council of Clermont. The image also depicts how
much higher up in the social class Pope Urban and the Council of Clermont is than Peter
the Hermit by showing that the Pope and the council are larger than Peter.

manor. The serfs are putting bails of hay into a larger pile in the right of the picture. Back
in medieval times most of the farming, planting, and harvesting. Serfs and peasants were
often closely related but very few differences. Serfs may have seemed like slaves but they
were actually not. One of the only differences is in their freedom. Another difference was
the serfs were not bound to their owner but the land they worked on. The serfs would also
to other jobs around the manor other than farming. The manor was run by a master who
often was considered a lord.

which is located in Worms, Germany. The style of architecture was a common kind of
architecture of the time which was Gothic. Gothic architecture was when the churches or
cathedrals were designed with carvings and stain glass windows. In the photo above of
the flying buttresses are an example of one change of architecture that was developed
during the time of Gothic architecture. In the image on the left there are four statues of
people and these are the four Evangelists or people who preach the gospel. On the left are
four prophets. In the center just above the door is a carving of the ceremony of the
crowning of the virgin.
