Boys & Girls Club Swim Team Returns from Nationals
by Tyler Greathead
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua Pride swim team completed an exceptional season. Twenty-seven of our
swimmers qualified to attend the National Competition in St. Petersburg, Florida, on April 11-13, 2014. Swimmers
needed to complete a number of requirements in order to be eligible. Members of the 2014 Nationals team were
Caroline Chea, Alexandra Conceicao, Natalia Conceicao, Nathaly Davis, Aania Garg, Sayan Ghose, Dylan Han, Sylvia Han,
Amy Jiang, Henry Jiang, Jason Lam, Thomas McLarney, Alex McNally, Sierra Mullin, Katrina Norton, Aaria Prakash, Mario
Rodriquez, Ava Rondeau, Haleigh Swabowicz, Hannah Swabowicz, Taylor Walker, David Wang, Joseph Wang, Jerry Xu,
Lucina Yi, Isaac Zhang and Rachel Zhang.
The Club is extremely proud of these swimmers who represent not only themselves and their families, but our
community. These swimmers did an amazing job representing the greater Nashua community, acting as positive role
models and ambassadors for our community. As a team, the Pride swimmers placed sixth in the nation, scoring 1064.5
points, an impressive total for just 27 swimmers. Three team records were broken during national. Natalia Conceicao
completed the 8 & under 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:23:23 breaking older sister, Alexandra’s record of 1:23:42,
which was in effect since 2009. Amy Jiang set a new team record of 1:23:11 in the 9 & 10 girls 100 year butterfly,
breaking the time of 1:23:76 which has stood since 2002. Lastly, Sayan Ghose achieved the record for the 9 & 10 100
yard butterfly, breaking a 5-year old team record.
Special congratulations go to Joseph Wang who finished third overall in the 8 & under boys’ age group in the
competition and also achieved recognition as the National Champion in the 50 yard Backstroke. Congratulations to all of
these swimmers for their commendable accomplishments that reflect all of the hard work put in by both the swimmers
and coaches this season. Pride swimming will resume with their summer swim camp in early June. For more information
