1) Coloring Grades JK-1

Rules

Students must bring crayons or color pencil
Picture to color will be given
Judged based on neatness and appropriate colors given to the items on the picture.

2) Tamil Heritage Theme Drawing and Description (Open to all students including the DDSB)
Rules for grades 1-4

Draw picture related to Tamil Heritage and include a small explanation of the drawing
Use only pencil crayon
Students can do this project at home and submit it to their teachers
Judged based on neatness , theme and description of the drawing
3) Tamil Scramble Word Search
Competition date: Jan 16, 2015
Time: 1-3 PM
Venue: 66B Harwood Ave
Ajax, ON
Grades 2-8
- Each grade will have their own
- Each word will be in scramble beside its corresponding picture, students will have to unscramble and
write the word correctly.
- Judged based on student with the most the most words and accurately
- 81/2 X 11 drawing paper will be provided
- Judged based on neatness and exactness

4) Tamil Speech Contest
Competition date: Jan 16, 2015
Time: 12-2 PM
Venue: Mclean Community Center

Each student will be given a written speech to take home and practice at the time of registration.
On the contest day, students will perform the speech.
Student are judged on
o pronunciation of the word
o dynamics of the sentences
o Correct tone
o Memorization of the speech
May not pause more than 10 sec during the speech

Tamil Speech
Grades 3-8
Competition date: Jan 16, 2015
Time: 2-4 PM
Venue: Mclean Community Center

Each student will be given a topic at the time of the registration for their speech.
Students should prepare at home and deliver an informative speech on the given topic.
On the contest day, students will perform the speech.
Student are judged on
o Pronunciation of the word
o Dynamics of the sentences
o Correct tone
o Memorization of the speech
o Content of the speech
o Speech must not exceed 3-5 min

5) Tamil Essay
Grades 5-8
Competition date: Jan 16, 2015

Students research at home and come and write the essay.
Student should be able to write 1.5-2 pages double spaced essay.

o Grammar
o Legibility
o Spelling

6) Tamil Heritage 3D project and presentation grades 5-12 (Open to Tamil and non-Tamil students) Competition

- Can choose a topic in the area of Tamil Heritage which can be and one of the following…
 Culture and Traditions (festivals, food, clothing, celebrations, medicine, religion)
 Language
 History
- Students will research the topic and complete the work at home
- On the contest day students must have written information on a 3 fold project board, bring artifact
to demonstrate and display.
- Project must be done in English
- Student are judged on
o Content
o Presentation (clarity, ability to convey information about the topic)
o Poster neatness
o Student shows the understanding of subject matter
o Presentation style (interesting way of presentation)
