WEEK OF OCTOBER 24-28 Kindergarten - Kitah Gan גן The kindergarteners are going to complete the letter Gimel this week. It should be sent home for you to review with them on thursday. Please take your time to go over the pages, ask them what the letters are and what the vowel is. We will continue to use the gimel vocabulary words such as: Glida (Ice'Cream), Gamal (camel), Gan (Park/Kindergarten), Gahg (roof), Geshem (rain) and Gadol (big). We are practicing reading, now that we have the first vowel "ah." The students can read and translate Gahg (roof), Gav (back), Abba (dad) and Bah (came). On Wednesday you will receive a notice for Gimel Day. The students will be alowed to bring to Hebrew class anything that begins with the letter Gimel (you will see a list of things in the notice). For example: a rain stick, play ice cream or ice cream to share with the class, toy girafe or book or picture of girafes, a carrot, a doll to show the back of the doll. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. The children really and trully enjoy these activities so please make sure they get to share something with their friends. :) First Grade - Kitah Alef ___א כתה Kitah Alef's students began studying the letter Bet this week. They are continuing to review the other letters and reading daily. The students are being introduced this week to another child/student from the Tal Am program, Barak. They had a writing test for the letters Alef and Shin on Monday. The students were provided with a new homework page today. Please make sure to sign each day after they complete their homework. Homework: 10/24 and 10/25 - No Homework . 10/26 - Read page 32 to parents in Hebrew. 10/27 - Page 34 - find and color all the Bet letters. Write on the top of the page an Alef, a Shin and a Bet. 10/28 - No School, No Homework. Second Grade - Kitah Bet____ ___ב כתה ____ Kitah Bet is finishing their study of the letter Samech in Cursive Hebrew. They are able to write letters alef, bet, gimmel, hey, vav, yud, nun, final nun, samech and resh. They are writing the letters in their machberet (notebook) and writing words as well. We are having a vocabulary test this Wednesday - the list of words with the translation and transliteration was sent home towards the end of last week. On Thursday, we will leave Tal Am to do a fun packet together, about a girl that always answers "no." I think they will really enjoy it! :) Please make sure that you sign their homework and behavior charts daily. Thank you! Third Grade - Kitah Gimel_ ג כתה Kitah Gimel has a project that is due this coming Wednesday. The ones that have already been turned in are beautiful. I'm excited to put up their projects on the wall by their room. This week we are concentrating on new vocabulary which they will be tested on next Wednesday. I will provide them with a list of the words translated and transliterated towards the end of this week. We are learning how to say where we live in Hebrew and what our phone number is. On Wednesday and Thursday, the students will take turns presenting their I.D. card (Teudat Zeut) projects to the class. Homework: 10/24- Continue working on your I.D. card project. 10/25 - Finish working on your I.D. card project. - Due tomorrow! 10/26 - I.D. Card Project (Teudat Zeut) is due today! Fourth Grade - Kitah Daled____ ______ ד כתה Kitah Daled will review BMLUCHA this week (please ask them about it) and write a sentence using this. We will also review the story from last week and answer comprehension questions and questions about ourselves. is continuing to learn their new vocabulary based on the story we are working on. We will also learn to conjugate words and write sentences using the conjugations. Fifth Grade - Kitah Hay ה כתה Kitah Hey is reviewing BMLUCHA (Please ask your child about what this is). We wrote and read to the class sentences using BMLUCHA. We are also reviewing the story and answring questions regarding the story and regarding ourselves. We will also continue in conjugating verbs. Homework: 10/24 - No Homework. 10/25 - Finish classwork, if not done in class - correct or not correct (based on the story). 10/26 - Finish answering questions about yourself on seperate piece of paper (will be provided). 10/27 - No Homework. 10/28 - No School, No Homework. Sixth Grade - Kitah Vav ו כיתה Kitah Vav is reviewing the first 10 letters we have learned, the vowels and the vocabulary words. I would like for them to really know it before moving along to the next 9 letters. Please help and encourage them at home to study their vocabulary words . We reviewed the test results. If your child received under a B they were given a copy to take home for you to sign and return. We will introduce the letter yud and new vocabulary words on Thursday. Please become involved - ask your child to give you some of the vocabulary words. Tell them to teach you! When you teach , you learn better as you internalize it.
