Trips are chaperoned by TASIS England faculty who give of their time to make these educational and enjoyable trips possible. During offcampus events and travel, students are representatives of the school as well as ambassadors for their native countries and families. The highest standards of conduct and cooperation are expected at all times. If a student's actions break the Code of Conduct and/or pose a danger to self, or to others, or his/her behaviour reflects negatively on TASIS England, the student's participation in the trip/event may be terminated, at the sole discretion of the school and his/her parents’ expense. Students who do not adhere to the Code of Conduct should be aware that immediate sanctions may be applied on the trip as well as disciplinary action upon return to campus. Furthermore, infractions during an off-campus trip or event by a student may jeopardize participation in future events and trips. The following rules will apply to all students on the trip: Students may not visit the rooms of students of the opposite gender. Students must respect all curfews and check-ins set by the chaperones. Students must not leave their room after the final evening check-in for any reason. Students must report any emergency immediately to the chaperone(s). Trip chaperones will review trip expectations with students prior to departure during pretrip meetings. The Head Chaperone will hold students’ medical records, emergency forms, and passports during the trip. Faculty chaperones and the school administration are enthusiastic about the many opportunities of the TASIS Travel Program and sincerely hope that your trip will be a rewarding and exciting educational experience. Sincerely, Travel Coordinator IF YOU SEND YOUR SIGNED DOCUMENTS ELECTRONICALLY, PLEASE E-MAIL TO academictravel@tasisengland.org DUE 20 JUNE 2013 TRAVEL RULES for All Participants in the October Travel Program DO Participate in all planned meals and activities. Forget that you are in a house of worship when entering a church or cathedral. Go out at night except accompanied by a chaperone. Drink alcohol or engage in drug-related activities – this does not only contravene TASIS rules but could also constitute breaking the law and result in immediate arrest and imprisonment. Engage in abusive or sarcastic language, which threatens others. LEAVE THE GROUP FOR ANY REASON AT ANY TIME. IF YOU SEND YOUR SIGNED DOCUMENTS ELECTRONICALLY, PLEASE E-MAIL TO academictravel@tasisengland.org DUE 20 JUNE 2013 SERVICE TRIP APPLICATION If your first, second, or third choice is the service trip to Romania, you should write an essay answering these questions. This trip will affect many lives, including your own. Before you apply for this trip, please give it a lot of deep thought. The projects require a physically and emotionally strong person who is willing to work hard, to be compassionate, and to have a positive attitude. It will not be an easy week, but the payoff will be incredible and long lasting. There is an expectation that each student going on a service trip will raise money for the charity sponsoring the trip. As this would be difficult for students who apply to this trip only six weeks before departure, we have included a £250 donation in the trip fee. Look at it as an advance from your parents. You should raise this money and pay your parents back. Although we would wish to accommodate absolutely everyone who wants to go, service projects on our October trips can only be effective with a limited in number of participants, and sometimes the demand from our students is so high that we must select the students best suited to the project and those whom we serve. Please write an essay about your previous experience with Community Service and try to answer any of the following questions that seem of importance to you, as well. Write on a separate sheet and attach it to your registration papers or e-mail it to uta@tasisengland.org. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. What is your name and grade? Why do you want to go on a service trip? When was the last time you helped someone in need? Give an example. What was the last manual job you did? Describe. What is the effect of a smile? What kinds of things do you do that the disadvantaged might not do? What contribution do you think you could make to strengthen the team? What ideas do you have for fundraising for this trip? Have you been on a service trip before? If so, describe your experience. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOU HAVE TO ATTEND AN INTERVIEW BEFORE A DECISION ON YOUR PARTICIPATION CAN BE MADE.
