Coastal/Estuarine/Ocean Engineer or Scientist

POSITION AND DUTIES
DHI is seeking a motivated engineer (or scientist) for our Solana Beach, CA office. We are looking for a
candidate with junior to mid-level experience. As an integral part of the DHI team, the selected candidate
will participate in a variety of project activities, often involving complex numerical modeling. The majority
of our project work is US based, but we engage in international projects as well, often in collaboration
with other teams in the DHI worldwide group.
REQUIREMENTS

A Master’s of Science (or higher) in Engineering or a related Physical Science from an
accredited university in civil, ocean or coastal engineering or physical oceanography (or
equivalent)

Ability, qualifications, and desire to become a registered Professional Engineer or Scientist

Applicants with longer term professional experience should possess a combination of
technical and project management skills

Demonstrated proficiency in GIS, MATLAB, and programming in FORTRAN and/or other
computer languages preferred

Familiarity with coastal and marine engineering concepts and methods (CEM, SPM, FEMA
G&S)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desire to work on local and international projects

Desire to work together with a local and international team of experts

Authorized and eligible to work in the U.S.
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding and background in the underlying physical processes
and the principles of modeling tidal hydrodynamics, ocean waves, cohesive and non-cohesive sediment
transport and morphology and aspects of water quality modeling.
