
Why were the American colonists split in their support of the American Revolution?
TASK:
 You are to create a persuasive pamphlet with the purpose of convincing people to either be a
Patriot or a Loyalist during the American Revolution. Your pamphlet must include information
from the reading activity that will be completed in the library with Mrs. Read.

Steps to completing task:
o Go to library and make research notes using provided sources, about why colonists were either
Patriots or Loyalists.
 Your notes will go on supplied organizer along with which source you pulled the
information from.
 You must put the source # so that you know which readings you used in order to write
your Works Cited (bibliography) part of the pamphlet.
o Once you complete the 2 days of research activity you must decide if you are going to persuade
other colonists to be a patriot or a loyalist.
 Once you have decided which you will be you must determine which notes will be most
useful to you - remember that your goal is to convince other colonists to support your side,
therefore you must only choose those notes that will help with that goal.
o You are to create a pamphlet – you can either use Microsoft Word or hand write your pamphlet.
o Before turning in your pamphlet you must self-assess your own work by completing the rubric.

