The North Berwick Golf Club Visitor Cart/ Buggy Usage Policy 1832 as approved by The Joint Greens Committee on 3rd December 2014. 1. Background The Club has had a policy of not allowing visitors (including Members Guests) to have the use of a cart/ buggy on the course, whether disabled or not. This policy has always been reviewed on an annual basis, and following this years’ review the policy has now been amended. The new policy has been verified by our Health & Safety Consultants to ensure compliance with all legislation and approved by The Joint Greens Committee. 2. New Policy With immediate effect visitors and Members Guests with a disability or medical condition, may bring their own single seater cart/ buggy for use on the course. The cart/ buggy model must be specifically for use on a golf course (a domestic cart/ buggy will not suffice). Twin seater carts/ buggies are not permitted. The Club is not required to provide carts/ buggies for hire and there are no plans to provide such equipment at this time. 3. Process a. That a visitor (be it a Members Guest or general visitor) contact the Starters/ Bookings Staff/ Managing Secretary at least 48 hours before their intended day of play to request they bring their own cart/ buggy for use on the course. All requests should include medical evidence, a photograph of their cart/ buggy and a copy of their cart/ buggy insurance, b. The application will be reviewed and if compliant permission will be given by the Starter/ Bookings Staff/ Managing Secretary. c. The visitor advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before their intended tee time to have their cart/ buggy checked and to receive a Health & Safety briefing from the Starters/ Managing Secretary. d. At the conclusion of the training, the visitor will be required to sign training record showing they have received the training. e. They will be required to undertake training upon each visit to the Club. f. Failure to adhere to the advice given in the briefing will result in the player being removed from the course. 4. Questions a. Where should I park my car to offload the cart/ buggy? You may park temporarily by the Clubhouse on Point Garry Road to unload your cart/ buggy and bags, and then find a suitable place to park in the surrounding streets. b. When would the course be unsuitable for buggies? Due to snow/ ice in the main, the Course Manager and Starters will make the final decision on restricting their use. c. Why can’t we allow two seater buggies on the course? This would require changes to the course including bridges across the burns and gaps in the March Dyke. This is not a reasonable adjustment to the course.
