AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASSES
FALL 2013
The Greenbriar PTO is pleased to sponsor After School Enrichment classes. This program offers
additional learning, recreational, and athletic experiences to interested students.
What you need to know about ASE classes:
 Classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at
Greenbriar Elementary School.
 Classes begin on October 14 and end on November 21 (six weeks).
 Make-up classes will be scheduled by the instructors as needed.
 Application does not guarantee placement, as most classes have limited enrollment.
Placement is made on a first-come, first-served basis.
 Payment is due with your completed registration form. Checks should be made payable to
GREENBRIAR PTO.
 Confirmation notices will be sent home with students at the completion of the
registration period. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER ENROLLMENT HAS BEEN
CONFIRMED.
Pick-ups and Late Bus:
 Prompt pick-up of your child following class is required. Pick up your child at the front
desk. You will be required to sign-out your child.
 A late bus will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays ONLY for students who sign up
for it during the enrollment period. Late additions to the bus list are not permitted.
 THERE IS NO LATE BUS AVAILABLE ON THURSDAYS!
Please remind your child that appropriate behavior is required for class participation and bus
transportation. If you have any questions, call Mary Ray at 876.9633.
Registration and payment are due SEPTEMBER 13TH.
CLASSES BEGIN OCTOBER 14TH.
**IMPORTANT NOTICE**
Registration forms will not be accepted after SEPTEMBER 13TH.
Returned Checks: If an ASE class registration check is returned to the PTO for any reason, the
PTO Treasurer will require cash payment immediately for the bank’s $20 fee, as well as for the
class enrollment cost. If payment is unable to be arranged, the student will be unable to
participate any further in the class.

Running Club with Miss Stevens and Miss Momcilovic
Grades: K-3

Cost: $30 per student
Class description:
Run fast! Run slow! Speed doesn't matter, As long as you go! Greenbriar Running Club allows students
the opportunity to get their daily exercise in a fun way. Join Miss Momcilovic and Miss Stevens for your
daily dose of fun, laughter, and exercise! A club tee shirt will be provided – be sure to add your shirt size
to the registration form!
Zumba with Mr. Lancaster
Grades: 3-5
Maximum: 25
Cost: $20 per student
Class description:
Come dance with Mr. Lancaster! Zumba Kids is a modified version of Zumba Fitness. Dance moves and
Latin music are used to make fitness fun. Zumba kids is designed to improve motor coordination and
listening skills. Dance moves and kid approved games makes this group class "exercise in disguise."
Cheerleading with Ms. Woodward
Grades: 3-5
Maximum: 25
Cost: $30.00 per student
Class description:
Hip Hop Hooray! Learn basic chants, cheers, and jumps and become a spirited representative of
Greenbriar Elementary School. Cheerleaders will perform chants at school convocations to rally the
students and teachers. You will be required to demonstrate appropriate character qualities, such as
honesty, cooperation, self-respect and respect for others. You must be outgoing and energetic. You will
receive a matching Greenbriar t-shirt and poms – be sure to add your shirt size to the registration form!
Sports of All Sorts
Grades: K-5
Maximum: 25
Cost: $35 per student
Class description:
This is a class that will teach your child about a different sport each week. The first part of the class will
be based on learning the rules and objectives of the sport. The second part is practicing the
fundamentals of that same sport. Finally, your child will have the opportunity to play a game of that
sport. Each week we will participate in a different sport from Floor Hockey to Basketball to Netball. If
your child likes to be active and participate in team sports, then this is the class to sign him/her up for.

Broadway Kidz, Musical Theater
Grades: K-5

Class description:
Class meets for one hour weekly and is conducted by professional teaching artists. Live music
accompanies instruction in vocal music, dance, and basic music theory, which leads to the mastery of a
song & dance. Class taught by certified Drama director and former Purdue University dancer with a
degree in dance and musical theater.
Chess
Grades: K-5
Maximum: 12
Cost: $53 per student
Class description:
Chess is back! This is a great class for beginners to advanced students. Chess will be taught in a childfriendly and fun manner while furthering the students’ strategic and mathematical thinking. Basics to
advanced strategy will be covered. Great option for both new and returning students!
Yoga for Kidz
Grades: K-5

Cost: $40.00 per student
Class description:
Yoga can help counter the pressures of a busy world. When children learn techniques for self-health,
relaxation, and inner fulfillment, they can navigate life's challenges with a little more ease. Yoga
encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that's noncompetitive. Fostering
cooperation and compassion—instead of opposition—is a great gift to give our children. Class is taught
by certified Yoga Kidz group fitness instructor. Instructor is also YogaFit and KidFit certified.
Mad Science
Grades: K-2

Class Description:
Each week we will investigate a different scientific topic including: Watts-Up (Electricity) – Magnetic
Magic (Build a simple motor) – Optical Illusions (Refraction/Optics) – Harnessing Heat (Make Cotton
Candy) – Mission Nutrition (Burn Calories) – Sonic Sounds (Create Sound Effects)

Arts and Crafts with Ms. DeVoe
Grades: K-5

Class Description:
A variety of media will be used with the students to create meaningful gifts for holiday giving! Younger
students will be paired with an older buddy in this class, so we will be making new friends while
celebrating the various cultures and holidays celebrated by our Greenbriar families.
Photography
Grades: 3-5

Cost: $40.00 per student
Class description:
This course is the entry level course for students with a passion for photography. This course is an
introduction to basic camera handling skills and the basics of photography. Students will also learn skills
to create original images. Student will also work with the camera to take portrait and landscape photos
and work on presentation.
Tumbling Class
Grades: K-5
Maximum: 20
Cost: $35.00 per student
Class description:
Calling all tumblers....come learn how to roll, jump, flip, flop and have tons of fun! We'll cover the basics
of tumbling right on up to covering skills that match the classes’ skill level. Kids will develop their
coordination, self-awareness, confidence & tumbling skills. These classes are for both boys & girls! Our
curriculum based tumbling program will provide the chance to learn rolls, handstands, flips and more,
what fun we have planned..... Class is taught by former level 8 gymnast with over 8 years of experience
with children’s gymnastics, she is a certified Kids in Motion, MELPD, and KAT instructor.

Guitar for Beginners
Grades: 4-5

Cost: $60.00 per student
Class description:
Come and learn to read music and play the guitar! This class is for students with little or no background
in guitar. Students will learn primer level songs. Fee includes a beginner’s guitar to keep, however if you
have a guitar you’d like to bring instead you are welcome to!
Ceramic Dreams
Grades: K-5
Maximum: 25
Cost: $36 per student
Class Description:
This pottery painting class will include a new project to paint each week. That's 6 projects total. The
projects will include 1 Fall, 1 Halloween, 1 Thanksgiving, and 3 Holiday theme items. All pieces will go
back to the studio to be glazed and fired, and the finished pieces will be brought back the following
week. Except the last week, the painted item will be taken home that day.
Tae Kwon Do
Grades: K-5

Class Description:
Come join ATA Family Martial Arts instructors and learn this traditional martial art and Olympic sport.
Taekwondo is an exciting and powerful martial art known for its dynamic kicking and hand techniques.
Learn about discipline, respect, self-control, and confidence. All levels welcome.

Basketball Clinic

Class Description:
Fundamental Basketball Training with former Indiana Pacer, Eddie Gill.
Eddie Gill is proud to offer ALL OUT TRAINING, a fundamentally focused basketball training
program. This program is designed to help athletes reach their full potential. Regardless of age or
experience, Coach Gill is able to customize the workout to meet the needs of the individual athlete,
emphasizing the skills that are essential to achieving the next level of success. This is an excellent
opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game in a fun, encouraging environment. Proper shooting
form, ball handling and passing techniques will be reviewed throughout the class. Exciting games will be
utilized as learning tools to learn these skills needed to become a good basketball player. Gym shoes and
comfortable clothing are suggested.

Clayworks Pottery
Grades: K-5

Cost: $32 per student
Class Description:
Each participant makes their very own pot on the potter's wheel with the guidance of Mr. Don Edwards.
Choose from a wide variety of shapes including bowls, plates, and vases. Then, use colorful glazes to
paint a design on the pot.
