Call to order –
Roll call of members present –
Officers’ reports –
Adviser’s reports- Budgets are coming up. Excited about elections, would
like to keep a positive and professional environment. Reiterates that ASB
elections are what we make of them. Would be happy to record a video
announcement to that effect. Encourages people to recommend
responsible students for Leadership class and also to register for her
leadership Microterm.
Sophomore sweatshirt sales end in four days. There is a banner on the
website, has been encouraging sales in his physics classes. The leadership
conference is next Wednesday. Excited to start working on the budget.
Committee Reports- Prom- Prom committee went well.
Leadership- Teachers are getting appreciation cards. Environmental
carwash is being planned. SAMIssembly. Will be in the amphitheater by
2:00 on May 15th. There will be speeches, activities, performances by
Samisimo and Ms. Raike’s dance class.
Game Day committee- Plan to have a meeting on Friday. There is an
orchestra concert the same day- scheduling conflicts will be worked out.
Reading of minutes of last meeting by Jennings– Brian seconds.
Clubs- Brian moves to approve Thetas club. Chris seconds. Motion carries
Budget Update- E-sports and book club have submitted budgets. Brian
would be willing to let Mr. Devine and Tre transfer the money that the
senior account owes.
9. Showcase- Showcase is tomorrow. Posters are up. Ian will promote and
shout about it after school. Gabe will be the Master of Ceremonies. The
set list for showcase doubled as of yesterday. There are numerous acts
from people who are not usual performances. No presale of tickets.
10. Elections- Fortunately, many forms were turned in on the due date.
Jackson is filming election videos now. Next Friday is elections and
registration. Ballots will be brought to the print shop tomorrow. Jackson
returned from filming videos and expresses regret about the scheduling of
this. Mr. Devine reviewed all the packets before putting up the list of
qualified students. James expresses concern about what warrants a
qualification. Gabe points out that we will not disqualify them for not
having enough qualification.
11. Service Project- Committee report- They reflected on the Interhigh at
Stadium and who the project should focus on. For teachers, each will be
given a king size candy bar and given compliments. Considered bringing
in a taco truck for students. There have been past difficulty arranging thing
with the greater SAMI community. Tre points out that SOTA got in
trouble for buying Starbucks. Gabe reminds that their advisers considered
it an inappropriate use of funds. We cannot buy giftcards or flowers. Brief
discussion as to what we can use public funds for- no gift cards or flowers.
The plan for the spaghetti event was dumped. We could help at Frank,
Toby, Jones retirement home. Brief discussion about the taco truck.
Previously when a food truck came, they could not come in the parking
lot. Mrs. Wickman feels that this is not a service project, Brian feels that
neither is game day. There is consensus that a taco truck would be fun, but
is not a service project. Gabe thinks that we would be overwhelmed. Also,
it is not always worth their time to come. Mr. Devine points out that policy
about this is changing. Isobel thinks that we should worry about the
teachers and greater community before we worry about the students,
though Tre feels that the students are more important. He reminds of Ms.
Povey’s suggestion of a lock-in at the zoo. Jackson thinks that if there is a
plan already in motion that requires little effort from us, but with the
timeframe we have we should not try anything impractical. Gabe
emphasizes that we should giveback to the teachers. Tre thinks we should
work in conjunction with leadership, and pay for the candy bars out of
ASB
12. Spirit Week- Has been approved by Ms. Tinder. Posters have been
finished and will be put up soon. Mrs. Wickman is happy that we have
poster ready a month in advance.
13. Sumner Leadership conference update- has already been reviewed.
14. End of year picnic- Gabe will be happy as along as there is tug of war. Tre
would like a tug of war committee. James would like a tug of war scribe.
15. Fannypacks- Tre thinks it would be a waste of money to buy them this late
in the year.
Special orders and unfinished business –
