Post Doctoral Research Associate (IRC45784) £26,610 - £34,002 Cheshire A vacancy exists for a three year fixed term research physicist in the Nuclear Physics Group (NPG) at STFC Daresbury Laboratory. The NPG takes a leading role in a number of major international collaborations and co-ordinates and supports the experimental research activities of the UK Nuclear Physics Community. The post holder will work on a research programme to study shell structure of exotic nuclei rotating at high angular momentum. The post holder will be expected to lead and drive an internationally competitive research programme in this area. This research will be performed at international accelerator facilities using the latest spectrometers for gamma-ray and charged particle detection. The post holder will work closely with physicists and engineers from the Laboratory and UK Universities, and will collaborate with employees from overseas institutions. The post holder should have experience in experimental nuclear physics research and will be expected to be familiar with modern nuclear spectroscopy, its techniques and analysis methods. A willingness to travel and ability to communicate effectively, and to operate in a large multinational collaboration is essential. The post holder should have a PhD in experimental nuclear physics.
