Location: 701 S. Pennsylvania Avenue. Contact: Christina Meadows, MS Christina.Meadows@UCDenver.edu Family Science Night is an all-school educational activity designed to encourage students' interest in science, as well as to help parents learn how to do everyday science activities with their children. We have plans for different stations with varied activities, mostly involving physics and chemistry concepts. Volunteers would stay at a single station from about 6-8pm and help families do the activities by explaining how they are done and helping them carry them out. Children in the school range from 3-11 years old, so many activities will have two sets of instructions based on age. We would like you to arrive about 30 minutes early to become comfortable with your station, and to have some pizza before the event. You will not need to help clean up, and your total time commitment should only be about 2.5 hours. The families are always very excited and enthusiastic about educational nights, and it helps the parents feel less intimidated about doing science with their kids. Volunteering for this event will help a great cause. Making science fun and memorable for kids has an amazing impact on their attitudes towards science in general. For the volunteers it's fun, it's easy, and you will have the opportunity to encourage students in science! Please consider volunteering for Family Science Night.
