NEWSLETTER www.ascension-island.gov.ac/government/school Tuesday, 09 February 2016 Dear Parents and Carers, Christmas Play Primary pupils have been working hard on their Christmas play “No Frills” and we are looking forward to performing to parents on Wednesday 2nd December at 6:30pm. Thank you for your support with practising lines and preparing costumes. Children will be sent home on Wednesday with their costume and we ask that they return to school wearing it if possible at 6:10pm. A small number may need to change here. The Highlight of the day was of course the sponge the Teacher event! A very special Thank you to all who made this day possible and a great thank you for sponsoring the pupils! Pupils have been spoken to about costumes. If your child is not sure, it is likely that they have been asked to wear normal play clothes. In order to be sure of numbers for our audience, please could you complete and return the tear off slip on this letter indicating how many seats you and your family would like for the performance. Please also indicate if your child needs transport from Georgetown leaving at 5.50pm. There is no charge for tickets, but there will be mince pies after the performance and a chance to make a donation to school fund. Fund Raising Friday Two Boats School raised £249.48 last Friday, this means £124.74 will be sent to Children in Need and to our students’ Fund!! The event took place in the afternoon; students had 2 periods of Fun! For this very special occasion students could wear yellow, spots and dress up as a hero!! During period 5 and 6, students could get their face and nails painted and take part in various games or they could buy some lovely cakes and biscuits and do some colouring activities. Learning together, Success forever TBS NEWSLETTER Glenda had to organise Events throughout the year, involve the community in the celebrations and create a programme for the Bicentenary Weekend in October 2015. . She has one last project as the Bicentenary Coordinator: a TIME CAPSULE to be opened in 2115. Glenda has asked the children to encourage their parents to write a letter to their great-great-grandchildren. It will be quite a surprise for them! Christingles Assembly On Friday 4th December Father David Hall will come to Two Boats School for a very special Assembly where students will make their own Christingles. A very Special Thank You to Cheryl Anthony for organising the event for our students! Students will be able to take their Christingles home and attend the evening event under their parents’ supervision. Brownies and Guides There will be no Guides this week. Brownies will move to Tuesday at the normal time in the church hall. Polite Notice Could Parents of foundation stage and Lower School children please leave the school playground by 8:25 am when school starts for Middle Children? Thanks for your assistance and support in this matter. Sponsored Walk We are planning a whole School sponsored walk in aid of School funds. The walk will take place on the morning of the 9th of December. The Route starts at Devils Ashpit and ends alongside the Sure earth station on the NASA straight road. However the walk will differ in distance in order to suit the different year groups. Children have been given sponsor forms today and we thank you in advance for your support and assistance. Should your child/ren need extra forms please have them ask their teacher or Nan in the School office Bicentenary and Time Capsules Glenda Schutgens-Jonis visited Two Boats School on Friday 20 November 2015. Glenda told us about her job as the Bicentenary Coordinator. According to her, the Bicentenary of British Settlement on Ascension Island in 2015 was an opportunity to come together and to celebrate as a Community. Christmas Cards From this coming Monday an internal letter box will be available to students for their Christmas cards delivery. There will be three collection services organised by our Student Council 2 TBS NEWSLETTER 1) Friday 4th December 9am 2) Thursday 10th December 9 am 3) Friday 11th December 9am This will give everybody a chance to reciprocate!! Students are asked to take their mail home to avoid the litter problems we experienced in the past.
