BOYS BASKETBALL
COACH-Jason Swavely
This year the boys finished with a 10-14 overall record. Winning their round one play-off game in a dramatic
overtime, the boys hosted a closely fought round 2 game coming up inches away from advancing to the
sectional round. Congratulations to the athletes who earned All-Conference honors: 1st Team: Matthew
Sparstad, HM: Jake Neiderhauser.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
COACH-Joe Behnke
The girls ended up with a 15-8 record, the best win/loss record in over 10 years finishing in 2nd place in the
BRC at 9-3. Over the last three years the team has steadily improved coming from a losing overall record of 717 and 5th in the Conference in 2012-13, 9-4 overall record in 2013-14 with a 4th place finish in the Conference
to their current winning record and strong 2nd place finish. This continued improvement is a true testament to
the hard work these girls are putting in. “It has been exciting to see them experience some success this year.
Our JV2 team went 18-2 and our JV went 19-3 so you can see the trend in the system right now. “It is
extremely exciting to see the youth movement in the program and we continue to keep taking steps in the right
direction”, said coach Joe Behnke. All-Conference honors were awarded to the following athletes; 1st Team:
Kaylyn Jenkins, 2nd Team: Ashley Juza, HM: Jordan Huber, Lexi Jonas.
CHEER & STUNT
COACH-Suzi Robole
Hudson Cheer & Stunt had another outstanding season! Varsity place 2nd at both the U of M Cheerleading
Championship and the Edina Sweetheart Classic with JV placing 7th and 5th respectively. Varsity took home
the "W" with a 1st place win in the Coed Division at WOW Factor Nationals in Minneapolis with an amazing
overall placement of 3rd for all school teams! JV competed at the WOW Factor Nationals for the first time and
placed 2nd in their JV division. The Varsity team went on to place 3rd at Regionals and 5th place at State in
the Coed Small Division. Both teams cheer at Varsity Boys' and Girls' home basketball games throughout the
winter season as well!
GYMNASTICS
COACH-Christina Harstad
Our very young Gymnastics Team consisting entirely of underclassmen had a great season finishing 3rd place
at the Conference meet with a season high score of 134.8. This placed the team 3rd overall in the Conference
for the season as well. The team continued their success with a fourth place finish at Sectionals qualifying
Olivia Koehler and Maddie Nelson for the State Gymnastics Meet in Wisconsin Rapids. This young team is
looking forward to the future.
GIRLS HOCKEY
COACH-Greg Gamache
The girls had a winning season this year finishing 12-11-2. Their schedule was packed with stiff competition.
Their record does not indicate how competitively the girls played. There were close scoring games against
ranked teams and multiple overtime games. Freshman Anna Wilgren set a Hudson High School girls hockey
single season scoring record scoring 69 points in 24 games passing the existing record held by Sydney
Squires with 59 points. Four girls received All-Conference honors: 1st Team – Anna Wilgren & Ali Takkunen
and Honorable Mention: Sophia Concepcion & Katie Meierotto.
BOYS HOCKEY
COACH-Brooks Lockwood
Finishing a very close 2nd place in the Conference the boys went on to win their
way to the Sectional finals where they played Superior finishing inches away from
the State Tournament. Superior went on to win this years’ state championship.
The ironic part is that Hudson had beaten them twice during the regular season.
The boys have proven themselves to be a competitive team and will bring back
many returning letter winners next year. Their future is bright. Earning AllConference honors were: 1st Team: A.J. Romanoski, Parker Shefveland, Wyatt Dove, 2nd Team: Chase
Blackmun, Adam Lipps, HM: Anthony Howard.
RAIDAIRES
COACH-Heidi Shimon/Heidi Van Den Broeke
The Varsity Raidaires placed 1st in Jazz and Hip Hop in the Conference and at Regional competition. They
moved on to State placing 5th in Jazz and 2nd in their Hip Hop routines. Their second place finish was the
highest that they have placed at State in eight years. The Nationals competition this year was held in
Minneapolis where the team placed 4th in Jazz and 2nd in Hip Hop as well as earning an award for academic
excellence. Congratulations on a successful season!
BOYS SWIM & DIVE
COACH-Ross Campbell
The Boys Swim and Dive team had a very successful season finishing 5-1 in dual meets, 2nd in the Conference
fourth in the Sectional Meet qualifying Matt Baker in two events (200 and 500 freestyle) for the State Meet in
Madison. Coach Ross Campbell said, “This year was a building year, where over half of our team (14 out of
20) were brand new to the sport. The team motto this year was impact and through passion, persistence, and
purpose in and out of the pool this team embodied that spirit.” The team rallied around and supported each
other as the season progressed. The new swimmers and divers stayed patient as they learned the
fundamentals of the sport and kept chins up even when times were tough. Even though the team qualified only
one person for the State Meet, the team showed their support by making the trip down there and making signs
to help calm Matt's nerves. Ross feels that the team has solidified themselves as a force to be reckoned with
for years to come. The program has a very bright future and this team has laid the foundation for a fantastic
future.
WRESTLING
COACH-Chris Hansen
This year was an exceptional year for the wrestling team. It started early in the season when they won the
Marty Loy 25 team tournament in Fond du Lac for the first time in school history. They went on to become
BRC champs, as well as Regional and Team Sectional champs. A record seven wrestlers qualified for the
State Tournament and three came home with medals. The team also qualified for State winning their semifinal match and finished in the top four teams in the State. All-Conference honors went to the following
wrestlers: 1st Team: Jacob Anderson, Matt Koski, Yuri Bronson, Sawyer Massie, Dylan Anderson, Max Gierke,
Isac Schindler, 2nd Team: Drew Klabon and HM: Mitch Fanning, Ryan McDevitt and Trent Goplin.
Congratulations on a successful season!
