Group Five: Mummification
Your group’s challenge is to put together an oral presentation on ‘mummification’ for the rest of your
class. Your must cover the following topics in your presentation.




Mummifying a pharaoh
The Burial process
Examining historical evidence – hieroglyphics and bodies
Famous mummies from around the world
Please look at the specific detailed tasks or questions below. Your team must cover them in your
presentation. Make sure that all work is presented neatly and includes a wide range of images and
acknowledges sources that have been researched. Your team will receive a group grade for this
assessment task so make sure that everyone is sharing the responsibility of the task and cooperating
as a team.
Introduction
Outline the topic that your group is presenting and what it is that the audience will be learning about
today.
Mummifying a pharaoh
1. Outline the purpose of mummification and which types of people would be mummified in
Ancient Egypt.
2. Describe the step by step process of mummification and include details about the types of
people who would be involved in the mummification process.
The burial process
3. Explain the purpose of burial and give an overview of the proceedings from start to finish.
4. Explain the importance of objects and symbols used in the completion of mummification and
burial.
Examining historical evidence
5. Give examples of specific historical evidence that has helped us to learn about mummification
including hieroglyphics and ancient artefacts.
Famous mummies
6. Using your knowledge of one famous mummy that has been recovered, explain what we have
learnt about ancient Egypt and its people from the recovery of these mummy remains.
Presentation
Present all display work neatly and make sure that you are all speaking clearly to the class.

Include a wide range of images or other materials to interest and engage your audience.
Bibliography
