Job Description
Yulgilbar Pastoral Company seeks an energetic couple to Care take/Manage the
Historic Yulgilbar Castle and garden surrounds.
The position will answer to the General Manager and the owners of the Property as
Required.(Baillieu Myer Family)
Location

Yulgilbar Castle is situated on Yulgilbar Station located at Baryulgil in North East
NSW
o Yulgilbar Station is 33000 acres
o Located on the Clarence River
o 95km North East Grafton
o 100 km South West Casino
o 125km South East of Tenterfield
Gardening and Maintenance of extensive "Park- like Gardens" on the Station

Gardening will include-
o

the operation, care and maintenance of John Deere Ride on Mowers
Operation and use of whipper snipper’s (Honda and Husqvanna)
Operation of hedge trimmers, wiper –snipper’s ,push mower, chainsaws
Weed spraying as required
Operation of 4wheel Honda bike and trailer
Operation and maintenance of Hatz Deisel Irrigation pump and motor on
mobile trailer(requires monitoring in flood times to pull out of river bank)
o Operation of computerised sprinkler pop up system
o Maintenance of aging water pipes and repair as required
o General garden maintenance on various gardens on the Station including
Castle gardens and surrounds, unoccupied houses and The Main Homestead
Lawn.
Good home cooking and house-keeping skills

You be required too liaise with management and the owners preceding visits to the Station by the
owners and their guests.
o The role entails shopping and ordering prior to visits for fresh supplies as
required.
o Good home style cooking is required
o A broad Understanding of etiquette and protocol in meeting and greeting
guests
o Discretion is essential
House Keeping

You will be required too Have excellent communication skills in liaising with Management and the
Owners.
o Have a friendly pleasant Nature.
o Maintain the Castle (also known as the Big House) for regular visits and tours.
o High attention to detail
o Understand the household requirements of the owners
o Good cleaning skills
o Assist with Regular tours to the Castle Archives and become familiar with the
History of the property, liaising with Castle Archivist/Curator
o High level of attention to Security including maintenance of Alarm systems
o You will have the use of the Castle vehicles for Station related business,
making the vehicles available to the owners upon arrival.
o Vehicles to be checked, cleaned and fuelled prior to arrival
o Good computer skills required.
o Assist if needed with “Station Related Activities and Events “
o Work well independently and also in a team environment
Excellent working and living conditions.
o A newly renovated 2 bedroom cottage ( Gum Tree Cottage)partly air
conditioned with new modern bathroom and kitchen is the Caretakers Home.




essential .

