CONSERVATION/POLLUTION PROJECT CHOICE BOARD DUE: Thursday, April 3, 2014 Choose one of the project options below. Circle your choice. Have a parent sign the bottom of this sheet. Show me that a parent signed your sheet then keep it for reference for completing your project. Remember, you will be presenting your completed project to the class, so be prepared to explain what you did, what you learned, and answer questions about your project. Most of all, have fun! Make a book of everything you recycle at home. Use pictures/photos, descriptions of items, or items themselves to illustrate things that YOU recycle at home. Pretend you are an animal. Create a puppet show to demonstrate how that animal’s life would change when its environment is changed by pollution. Remember to tell what type of animal you are, habitat you are living in, and type of pollution taking place. You will need your animal puppet, a background, other characters, and any props that you will use. Write a children’s book about pollution or conservation. Remember to use the correct vocabulary (pollution, conservation, recycle, reduce, reuse, compost, litter, etc.). It must have illustrations. Make a movie about conservation. What resources do we need to protect? What changes need to be made to protect those resources? Why is it important to protect these things? Be creative! Make a graphic organizer that contains the vocabulary and concepts that we learned in our pollution/conservation unit. You also need to make vocabulary cards. Write a song/rap about conserving our resources, recycling, or pollution. You must write out the lyrics and be ready to perform it for the class. You may also create any props that will help you with the presentation. Begin a compost pile at your home. Document how you started it with a journal entry and picture/photo. Make a T chart of things that can and cannot be put into a compost pile. Finally, explain/show some uses of the compost after it decomposes. Make a game about recycling. Your game needs to include written directions, rules, players’ pieces, game pieces, game board or other needed items to play. Remember, it must include details about pollution/recycling on your game. Write a drama or a story about your life if you were the thing causing the pollution (the pollutant). Where are you? What are you? How did you get there? Be creative. Give as many details as you can. ________________________________________ PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGNATURE ________________________________________ DATE
