Supporting evidence should be provided for each question, either in the grey boxes, or by attaching ‘Supporting
Evidence’ documents (one document if possible), into which all relevant documents/pictures/material should be
put and clearly labelled. If this file is larger than 10MB, please use www.wetransfer.com to email the file to us.
Evidence for lessons, assemblies, and similar areas must be from the last 12 months, training from the last 24
months. Your answers and the supporting evidence will be examined to see if your school meets the relevant
criteria for Gold status. Anything you submit may be used as best practice for us to share with other schools –
please let us know if you do not want anything to be shared.
To be recognised as a Gold School Champion, your school must have been a School Champion for at least two
years previously.

POLICIES
a) The school celebrates gender diversity and values all forms of gender expression. The school has
undergone an audit to challenge the gender binary and remove gender segregation or unnecessarily
gendered aspects of school life. This should be done in consultation with young people.
In order to meet the criteria please detail and provide evidence of the audit process and demonstrate changes in
your school since. We will be assessing the distanced travelled since undergoing the audit.
b) The school has a clear action plan for continued work around LGBT equality. This must include setting
goals to ensure that future work is ongoing and embedded in school.

TACKLING BULLYING
c) The school's work to tackle homophobia, biphobia and transphobia has had a demonstrable impact.
HBT language is rare and always challenged, incidents of bullying are dealt with effectively and young
people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and those who do not conform to gender
stereotypes, feel supported and included
Please provide evidence of impact, such as reduced rates of HBT bullying, evidence for teaching about sexual
diversity and gender diversity generally and testimony from teachers, senior leadership, parents and students
as to their experiences of this work and its impact.
d) All staff in school have received comprehensive training on challenging HBT bullying and language and
supporting LGBT young people. There is ongoing communication with staff about training - with regular
opportunities for further training offered
Training must have been provided in the last two years. Please provide evidence of training, e.g. PowerPoint
slides or training agenda along with evidence of attendance (e.g. attendance register)

e) Pupils are actively involved in the school’s anti-bullying work around homophobia, biphobia and
transphobia
This could be as anti-bullying buddies or playground buddies, equalities teams, other groups or school council
initiatives.
d) Testimonies show that LGBT staff, parents and carers are accepted without exception

person in the school.

CURRICULUM AND SUPPORT

Different families, celebrating difference and gender diversity are embedded across the curriculum
This means that lessons about different families, celebrating difference, challenging gender stereotypes and
celebrating gender diversity are regular parts of schemes of work and taught every year to multiple year groups.
Please provide evidence, for example lesson plans.
g) Sex and relationships education (SRE) is inclusive of different types of relationships and identities
Please give details of your Sex and Relationships Education and provide evidence of the relevant parts of the policy
or schemes or work.

WIDER SCHOOL COMMUNITY AND CULTURE
h) Staff are engaged in sharing best practice through attending Stonewall events
Stonewall hosts regular regional seminars for School Champions as well as the annual Education for All conference.
At least one staff member must have attended a seminar, conference or other event

LGBT people and diversity and difference are celebrated across the whole school. There are regular
events in the calendar to celebrate LGBT people, and diversity more broadly.
Events must show the broad diversity of LGBT people and must involve Anti-bullying week, LGBT History Month,
IDAHOBiT, International Women's Day, Black History Month, Trans Day of Awareness, BiVisibility day. Please
provide evidence (e.g. pictures) of any of the above

This could be by linking with local secondary schools for transition work, working with local community groups or
leaders or encouraging other primary schools to do this work
