JOB PURPOSE
Regional Director is responsible to the Managing Director for the direction and control of all
commercial and operational aspects of the region. Ensuring efficient delivery and service to all
internal and external customers. To give the highest level of customer satisfaction, whilst achieving
organic growth and financial success.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
The primary responsibility is to manage the region commercially and operationally to maximise
profitability whist ensuring quality, performance improvement and customer service delivery.
The role is varied and includes:

Development of budgets and strategies to achieve the growth plans.

Commercial responsibility for each branch and the Region (in conjunction with the Managing
Director).

Development of organisational arrangements, systems and processes to enable the efficient
and effective deployment of resources in line with and supporting the development.

Implementation of approved budgets and plans.

Implementation of group policies and procedures throughout the business.

Responsibility for close control and management of sub-contractor accreditation, quality,
costs and performance.

Management control and support of the individual Business Units to ensure profit margins are
achieved.

Client updates and meetings to ensure Mears are compliant with delivery expectations.

Leadership and direction for the branch management and branch teams.

Development and motivation of the branch teams, fostering a high level of co-operation with
other senior managers.

Development and achievement of collective goals (including regional goals) with fellow senior
managers and regional support functions.

Development and sustaining of relationships with key customers/stakeholders ensuring the
highest quality customer relationship management of the contracts.

Contribution to the development and delivery of accurate financial reports to the Managing
Director.

Development and delivery of robust internal and external performance reports.

Facilitating the internal audit process and responsible for implementing the ensuing action
plans.

Mobilising of new contract wins.

Ensuring full and accurate understanding of contract pricing mechanisms
The successful individual must be fully conversant with the need to deliver timely final account
agreements, ensuring compliance with open book cost control.
DIMENSIONS
The Regional Director will have responsibility for the commercial and operational aspects of the
Region as it grows and develops.

Skills and
Experience
An experienced commercial manager with substantial operational experience
and ideally, a background in social housing but certainly a background in
outsourced service provision to the public sector.
Previous knowledge, experience and understanding of our industry and service
delivery to a full range of clients. Must be able to negotiate and communicate
effectively at all levels.

 A strong commercial background (preferably in social housing but certainly
in outsourced service provision to the public sector).
 The ability to procure and manage a large and diverse subcontractor base.
