Job Title: TGIF Program Associate This position is funded by The Green Initiative Fund, http://tgif.berkeley.edu. Job Summary/Job Duties: The TGIF Program Associate(s) will assist the TGIF Coordinator with the documentation of TGIF funded projects. Duties will include recording and calculating both quantitative and qualitative sustainability metrics produced by these projects, and will involve reading project updates, reports, and interviewing project leaders. The TGIF Program Associate(s) will also assist the TGIF Coordinator with displaying and publicizing these metrics in new and innovative ways. There will also be opportunities for the Associate(s) to make recommendations for improving the TGIF program as a whole. Job Requirements: Be a student currently enrolled at UC Berkeley. Strong communication skills. Organized and detail-oriented. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and propose innovative ideas. Strong research and analytical skills. Must be able to commit to working 10-12 hours/week for Spring 2013. The Ideal Candidate will have: Experience with web and print design, social media, photography, and/or video-making. Current or past experience with sustainability initiatives on campus, including but not limited to campus internships, research, or student environmental groups. Experience with calculating sustainability metrics, including but not limited to energy and water savings, waste diversion, food production, greenhouse gas emissions, and habitat restoration. The Green Initiative Fund is a student-fee based campus sustainability fund that awards grants for projects that reduce UC Berkeley's negative impact on the environment and make UC Berkeley more sustainable. TGIF allocates funds to projects that promote sustainable modes of transportation, increase energy and water efficiency, restore habitat, promote environmental and food justice, and reduce the amount of waste created by UC Berkeley. Portions of the fund also support education & behavior change initiatives, student aid (via return to aid), and student internships.
