Contribute to a whole curriculum approach to lessons that cover a range of core subjects in a nurturing environment including literacy, numeracy, personal and social education with a focus on skills required for age appropriate development. Ensure delivery responds to individual learners’ needs and be responsible for creating a safe, fun, energetic and supportive learning environment that enables young people to succeed whilst overcoming their barriers to learning. Plan and deliver a range of interesting and imaginative lessons and opportunities for play as part of a diverse and personalised curriculum, for classes with very varied abilities whilst maximising the use of resources to meet individual learner needs and learning styles. Maintain records of learner progress and develop appropriate communication structures with families, local authorities and the school leadership team. Deliver an agreed amount of learner contact (subject to regular review), playing an integral role in implementing and continuously improving curriculum delivery aims and outcomes. Build constructive relationships with other professionals, such as social workers, educational psychologists and promote partnership between home and school. Deliver an agreed amount of learner and peer mentoring. Prioritise the safeguarding of children; cooperating with the relevant agencies where appropriate and ensuring Safeguarding procedures are followed at all times. Assist with the evaluating and monitoring of standards of teaching and learning, behaviour and any other aspect impacting upon learner outcomes. Help develop an I.E.P. target for learners and use the learners’ I.E.P. when planning lessons and ensure I.E.P. targets are updated as they are achieved. Assist in the development of the school’s development plan. Supervise and direct systems for monitoring pupil behaviour. As a member of the teaching team, support colleagues and be prepared to receive feedback, support and advice as necessary. Participate in staff meetings as required. Be accountable for monies allocated for specific purposes. Ensure health and safety standards are achieved and maintained. The job-holder is expected to be willing to supervise food and recreation breaks and transport/escort duties of learners according to need. The job-holder is expected to be willing to work flexibly across sites according to the needs of the learners and the delivery of their curriculum.
