Many thanks to all of you that joined us for Sports Day, supporting our children in their efforts to win their
races and events, and in helping their team achieve the Sports Day Cup. The winner will be announced at
our End of Year Achievement Assembly on Friday 10th July. Details of race and event winners will be
uploaded onto the website.
I’m delighted to inform you that we have been awarded our GOLD School Games Award. This
award acknowledges the excellent PE participation of our children, the high quality coaching
and range of experiences on offer. A tremendous achievement!
Sports Day was followed by an excellent PTA Summer Fayre. So many of you helped out and
stayed to support, and an amazing £1000 was raised. Huge thanks to our dedicated PTA who worked so
hard to put this on, and to you all for spending so generously to support our school.
A reminder that there are still some children’s T-shirts available to buy as a memento, for the bargain price
of £3. Speak to any PTA member, or to the office.
For your information:
 We say a fond farewell to Mrs Scattergood who is moving to Grace Dieu to teach Year 3, and
welcome Mr David Soanes who joins us to teach Kingfishers Class. Mr Soanes will be joining us for
the two transition days on 2nd and 3rd July, and for the last week of term as Mrs Scattergood will be
recuperating following a minor operation. I know that you will join with me to wish her a speedy
recovery and to wish her well in her new adventure - she has promised to come back and visit us
when she can. Mr Soanes joins us as a full-time permanent member of staff.
Cygnets, Swans and Swallows classes remain the same staff structure as currently, and Mrs Carter
returns to teach Herons for three days a week, with Miss Cameron two days. Mrs Hearfield will
support teaching and learning in Kingfishers Class during the mornings, and run interventions
during the afternoons. As a headteacher with a teaching commitment, I will be supporting teaching
and learning in Herons class during the mornings.
We thank Miss Locke for her commitment to supporting teaching & learning in our school, and look
forward to her continuing her Mid-day supervisor role.
 Building work will take place during the summer holidays to enhance the Swallows class learning
space, and the kitchen refit that is almost completed will enable us to cook our own meals on site in
September. Following best-practise advice from the Schools Meals service, we will introduce a new
system for ordering lunches from September. Children having hot school meals will order their
meal choice in their class (parents who wish to support their child in making a choice are welcome
to do so in the class, although we hope this system will encourage children’s independence). We
will also be introducing School Money – a cashless online payment system. Please note that, whilst
this will be our preferred option for payment, cash payments can still be made. More info to
follow.
 REPORTS will be sent home in the last week of term, once SATs results have been received in
school. Staff are currently working hard on end of year progress and achievement data, which is
again looking very positive, and reflects the hard work of all staff and the children over the year.
This information not only informs next steps in your children’s learning, but is also summarised to
help us indentify school development priorities. Although we are very proud of the excellent
education provided in our happy, and family oriented school, we are not complacent, and
constantly strive to improve. If you would like to share you view of ‘what we do well...’ and ‘even
better if...’, please complete a form (to be found in the office leaflet rack). We are very interested
to hear your views.
 Clubs currently running are Sports (Thursday with Mrs Hunt), Spanish (Thursday with Miss
Canning). Recorders (Thursday lunchtime with Mrs Hunt). Football (Friday lunchtime with David
Hunt). Please note no clubs will run during the last week of term (Final David Hunt football session
is on Friday 3rd July).
It just remains for me to thank you all for your shared responsibility in
providing the best learning experiences for your children.
We send love and good wishes to your Year 6 leavers as they move to the
next stage of their learning journey, we know they will make us proud!
Staff will be back in school on Thursday August 27th for two inset days, with
children back in school on Tuesday 1st September. I look forward to seeing
you all then!
Sally Hunt
