Measures to Mitigate Environmental Impacts

The environmental record for the Project includes the following documents:

Environmental Assessment, June 2011

Finding of No Significant Impact, June 2011

SHPO Finding of No Effect Letter for Hawthorne Bridge Replacement, September 2015

The mitigation measures and other Project features that reduce the adverse environmental and community impacts, to which FTA and the City of Charlotte committed in the environmental record, must be implemented under this Small Starts Grant Agreement (SSGA). Such mitigation measures may not be eliminated from the Project or altered except by FTA’s written consent.

Included in the Charlotte Streetcar Environmental Assessment (EA) completed for the project, mitigation measures were made in an effort to eliminate or minimize the negative potential impacts resulting from the project. In the EA document the mitigations are described in Chapter 3: Affected Environment and

Environmental Consequences. The EA was reviewed and a summary of the mitigation commitments was compiled into a listing for the project. The following items are summarized for each mitigation measure:

Reference Sections: identifies the section of the EA.

Potential Adverse Impact: identifies the specific impacts noted in the EA.

Mitigation: outlines the mitigation commitment, any outstanding issues or community concerns, and necessary background information.

Status in Current Plan: describes the current status of the design and mitigation.

The Status in Current Plan column is updated and reported to the FTA at quarterly review meetings.
