Homework



Practise the Mental Maths Minutes with your child.
Ensure that your child does their homework.
Please ensure that you child has their indoor and
outdoor PE kits every day. We usually do outdoor PE
on Tuesday PM and indoor PE on Thursday PM.
However, with the weather being changeable at the
moment the times of outdoor PE may be variable in
order to catch good weather!
Discuss your child’s learning and achievements with
them.
Spellings – instead of having spelling tests every
week, your child will be given a spellings card that
they need to learn to spell.
Reading – your child should spend at least 30 minutes
reading their school book every week, along with a
reading or comprehension task to complete. Please
sign your child’s reading diary after you have listened
to them read.
Mental maths – your child will be given a mental
maths card every week, inside their homework books.
Children are to practise answering the questions as
fast as they can, then use the back of the card to
mark their answers (using your help). These will be
changed every Wednesday and ready to take home on
the Friday.
If your child is in Year 1 and chooses to write a
sentence as part of their homework, remind your
child to put in finger spaces (it might help if they
count the words in their sentence first), a full stop
at the end and a capital letter at the beginning.
This term our tidy-up song is Nimbooda Nimbooda (search on Youtube). This is
becoming a firm favourite of the children and I’m sure they would love to share
it with you at home! It is very good fun.
If you would like any further information, please contact the class teacher
who is available for 15 minutes before and after the school day.
Please check our website for additional activities your child could do at
home.
