HIGHER EDUCATION ENTRANCE AND PLACEMENT EXAM FOR THE
ADMISSION OF FOREIGN NATIONALS TO ANADOLU UNIVERSITY (AYÖS)
APPLICATION CONDITIONS
Foreign nationals who wish to apply to Anadolu University Associate Degree or
Bachelor’s Degree resident/distance department/programs in the academic year 2015‒2016
and who hold/are to hold high school diplomas equivalent to the Turkish high school diploma
and satisfy the below requirements must take the AYÖS (Higher Education Entrance and
Placement Exam for the Admission of Foreign Nationals to Anadolu University) or must have
received the required result from one of the internationally recognized exams specified in
AYÖS Directive.
Application Conditions
a) The application of high school or equivalent school graduates or seniors who:
1) are foreign nationals,
2) are native-born Turkish nationals that have ceased to be a citizen by courtesy of the
Ministry of Interior and their minor children registered in the document of
expatriation, provided that they can certify that they hold the official document for the
use of rights defined in the Turkish Citizenship Law (Article 7 of the Turkish
Citizenship Law no. 5901 reads as follows: “(1) A child born to a Turkish mother or
through a Turkish father within the unity of marriage either in Turkey or abroad is a
Turkish citizen”. The candidates are required to read the Turkish Citizenship Law
before making an application.)
3) are native-born foreigners that have become a Turkish citizen afterwards/dual
nationality holders in the same situation,
4) a) are Turkish nationals that have completed last three years of their high school
education before 01/02/2013 in a foreign country other than TRNC [including the ones
that have completed the entire high school education at a Turkish school under the
Ministry of National Education (MEB) in a foreign country other than TRNC],
b) are Turkish nationals that have completed their entire high school education after
01/02/2013 in a foreign country other than TRNC [including the ones that have
completed the entire high school education at a Turkish school under the Ministry of
National Education (MEB) in a foreign country other than TRNC],
5) are nationals of TRNC that reside in TRNC, and have completed their high school
education in TRNC and have taken GCE AL exam, and that have received education
in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL
exam will be accepted.
b) The application of candidates who:
1) are Turkish nationals and completed the entire high school education in Turkey or
TRNC,
2) hold nationality of TRNC (excluding the ones that have had their entire high school
education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam, and have received education in a high
school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL exam),
3) hold dual nationality, one of which is Turkish as defined in paragraph 2 of article a
(excluding the ones defined in paragraph 4 of article a),
4) hold dual nationality, one of which is TRNC (excluding the ones that have had their
entire high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam, and have received
education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken
GCE AL exam),
5) are Turkish nationals and have had their high school education in schools affiliated
with the embassies in Turkey and foreign high schools in Turkey, or hold dual
nationality and the first nationality is Turkish as defined in paragraph 2 of article a
will not be accepted.
INTERNATIONAL EXAMS RECOGNIZED AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1) A minimum score of 50 from the General Aptitude Exam of AYÖS (Higher Education
Entrance and Placement Exam for the Admission of Foreign Nationals to Anadolu
University),
2) Higher education entrance exams recognized by the Council of Higher Education:
a. ACT Exam – A minimum score of 21 in Science (scientific reasoning),
Mathematics, and Composite,
b. Al-Shahada-Al Thanawijya – A minimum score of 170 out of 240 in the Scientific
Stream,
c. Gaokao Exam – A minimum score of 480 out of 750 in subject matter scores
accepted by the applied program,
d. SAT 1 – A total score of at least 1000 in Mathematics + Reading, and a minimum
score of 550 in Mathematics,
3) High school diploma scores or graduation exam scores:
a. ABITUR or Austria MATURA – A score of 1‒4 (without examination
applications with FACT ABITUR will not be accepted);
b. A minimum diploma score of 3.5 for Switzerland MATURA examination;
c. Baccalaureate Libanais – A diploma score of at least 65 out of 100 in the Scientific
Stream;
d. French Baccalaureate – A diploma score of at least 10;
e. GCE (A level) – At least two A levels one of which is related in the subject matter
of the applied program;
f. IB (International Baccalaureate) – A minimum score of 28;
g. Tawjihi Exam – A minimum average of 80 points out of 100 in all courses in the
Scientific Stream;
4) and recipients of gold, silver or bronze medals in International Science Olympics
recognized by TÜBİTAK may apply to the AYÖS exam.
High School Diplomas or High School Graduation Exams such as ABITUR,
International Baccalaureate and MATURA are not subject to validity limitations. However,
international exams such as AYÖS, SAT, ACT, GCE etc. are valid for two years.
Applicants are required to either take the AYÖS exam or submit internationally
recognized exam results/graduation scores, specified in the AYÖS Directive and accepted by
the University Senate.
Candidates who meet the application requirements will be ranked according to their
scores. Applications are placed in programs according to their scores, preferences, and quotas
of nationality, the number of students from the same nationality in a program cannot exceed
20% of the quota of that program. Thus, the nationality of an applicant should not change
during the period of study. Dual nationality holders (e.g. Turkish-Bulgarian, German-France)
are required to select one of their nationality in filling out the “Online Application Form”. In
any case of equality in ranking, first the high school GPA, then the preference order, and then
the younger age will be favored.
The candidates cannot change their selection of the nationality category throughout their
education. The candidates cannot change the Student ID information they provide during
registration, their diplomas are also issued according to same information.
The candidates of all types of placement (TCS, State Scholarship, YÖS, AYÖS, etc.)
graduate according to nationality information they use for registration.
Candidates who cannot document the passport/ID information they provided during
application will not be allowed to register.
Applicants may apply to only one test type. The same applicant cannot submit both
AYÖS result and internationally recognized test results/graduation scores, specified in the
AYÖS Directive and accepted by the University Senate. All applications of an applicant are
cancelled if the said applicant applies for more than one test types.
APPLICATIONS
Applicants who wish to take the AYÖS Exam must fill out the online “AYÖS
Application Form” to be found on the University website. The applicant will complete the
application by e-mailing the form and the bank receipt to ayos@anadolu.edu.tr (until 20 May
2015).
If applicants do not fill out the “Online Application Form”, their application will not be
taken into consideration and they will not be sent the “AYÖS Examinee ID Document”.
The exam of applicants that provide a false document or information will be cancelled,
even if the forgery is noticed after the applicant has taken the exam. The exam results of the
candidates who take the exam without meeting the application requirements will be cancelled.
Applicants cannot change their examination center preferences after making an
application.
AYÖS EXAM FEE
Exam fee for Eskişehir/TURKEY is 50 TL (Turkish Liras). This fee for taking the exam
in an exam center out of Turkey is 50 Euros plus the Bank Transaction fees. Applicants are
required to make their payment to the relevant bank account listed below with their names
written on the bank receipt (as it appears on the passport or ID card). The payment is not
refunded in any case.

Applicants who want to take the AYÖS General Aptitude Exam or Turkish Language
Exam will pay the exam fee. Applicants who apply with a diploma or international exam
score will not pay the exam fee.
EVALUATION OF APPLICATIONS
All applications will be evaluated and the applicants who are eligible to take the AYÖS
Exam will be announced on the University website. Eligible applicants will access and print
their “AYÖS Examinee ID Document” on the University website.
Applicants must present their “AYÖS Examinee ID Document” and passport/ID card on
the date of the exam.
All applicants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and arrival plan
for the exam in accordance with the rules in their country.
“AYÖS Examinee ID Document” is a pre-acceptance letter. Applicants cannot receive
an individual acceptance letter before the exam.
THE EXAM AND ASSESSMENT
The Exam will have two sections with English and Turkish instructions: “General Aptitude
Exam” and “Turkish Language Exam”. The scores of these sections will be calculated
individually and the applicants will access their scores as “General Aptitude Exam Score” and
“Turkish Language Exam Score” from the link that will be available on the University
website. The applicants are required to keep a copy of their test result. After the link is
removed from the website, the University will not issue a test result document.
The applicants must have a minimum score of 50 in the “General Aptitude Exam” and
a minimum score of 70 in the “Turkish Language Exam” in order to be eligible for enrollment
to Anadolu University programs.
Applicants that apply to programs where pre-registration and special aptitude exams
are required, provided that they meet the initial application requirements, will be accepted to
such programs after obtaining satisfactory scores from the aptitude exams administered by
each relevant program of their choice.
Applicants who choose programs that require a special aptitude exam cannot choose
other programs, and applicants who choose other programs cannot choose programs that
require a special aptitude exam.
