CLASS TITLE: COMPUTER AUDIT CONSULTANT
ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)
This is professional work involving highly specialized knowledge of accounting and accounting systems,
computer and computer systems and the application of electronic data processing (EDP) financial
auditing concepts to very large and complex systems using advanced computer audit software.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Plans workloads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization.
Coordinates the work of the EDP financial audit staff with staff auditors during the performance
of financial audits.
Prepares EDP financial audit programs using advanced audit software.
Installs advanced audit software on large and complex company computer systems.
Serves as expert witness in the use of EDP financial auditing concepts and techniques in public
hearings and proceedings.
Establishes new EDP financial auditing concepts and techniques for use during financial audits.
Assists in evaluating current EDP financial audit usage with the intent of improving such use
and/or applying new concepts and techniques.
Develops and conducts staff training sessions in EDP financial auditing concepts and
technology.
Conducts special investigations of technical complaints concerning companies subject to audit.
Performs related work as required.

Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques.
Knowledge of accounting and accounting systems.
Knowledge of financial auditing techniques.
Knowledge of data processing principles, practices and techniques applicable to large scale
computer systems.
Knowledge of system analysis and evaluation techniques.
Knowledge of EDP financial auditing concepts and techniques.
Knowledge of report writing techniques.
Ability to analyze and evaluate large and complex accounting systems.
Ability to develop specification for financial audit programs.
Ability to operate and write programs for complex computer systems.
Ability to perform systems analysis and evaluation of complex accounting and computer
systems.
Ability to apply EDP financial auditing concepts and techniques to the performance of a
financial audit using advanced EDP audit software.
Ability to write effective reports.
Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate effectively.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



A bachelor's degree from a college or university with a major in accounting, mathematics,
business or one of the computer sciences and four years of experience in accounting, auditing
or computer systems analysis.
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certificate
can substitute for one year of the required experience.
A master's degree from a college or university in one of the areas described above can
substitute for one year of the required experience.
