CURRENT EVENT STATUS
Weather
 An arctic cold front will move through St. Johns County this morning, accompanied
by scattered showers. In the wake of the front, the coldest air in several years will plunge
into our area. This morning’s high temperatures mainly in the 50s and 60s will fall into
the 40s this afternoon as northwesterly winds abruptly increase to 15-25 mph with higher
gusts.

The coldest weather of this outbreak will occur tonight and Tuesday morning, with low
temperatures in the teens across inland locations, with low/mid 20s along the coast. In
addition, brisk northwest winds near 15 mph, with occasional higher gusts, will drive wind
chill readings during the predawn hours on Tuesday down to single digits inland and 10-15
degrees closer to the coast. Not much of a warm-up is expected Tuesday, with high
temperatures only reaching 35-40 degrees. Northwest to northerly winds will remain in the
10-15 mph range, keeping wind chill values in the 20s and 30s most of the day.

St. Johns County is under:
- Wind chill warning will be in effect Tuesday from 4 am – 9 am. A Wind Chill Warning
means the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind
chill values. This could result in frostbite, hypothermia and possibly death if precautions
are not taken.
- Hard freeze warning will be in effect Tuesday from 2 am until 9 am, with 6 to 12 hours
of hard freeze conditions (temperatures 27 degrees or lower) possible.
- Lake Wind Advisory – northwest winds of 20 - 25 mph, with gusts to 35 mph can be
expected today.

Today's Weather: Scattered showers, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature
falling to around 47 by 5pm. Windy, with a northwest wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high
as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
