SAFETY RULES

No bystanders allowed in the working area of the harrow, especially when folding and unfolding harrow sections.

Whatever the type of maintenance that needs to be done to the harrow, the tractor engine must be stopped, the hand brake applied and all residual hydraulic pressure released.

Only the operator must operate the harrow and must remain in the cab during the complete working cycle.

Do not attempt to use the harrow if any of the safety guards have been removed or damaged.

Ensure safety chains are connected for transport. DO NOT transport the machine without safety chains attached.

3.

FITTING HARROW TO TRACTOR

Ensure the safety chains are attached to the arms of the harrow (only on hydraulic folding models) to ensure arms cannot move.

Attach tractor lower link arms to harrow lower link attachment points.

Having attached the lower link arms attach the top link.

Adjust top link and lower stabilisers so that the machine is held stable and rigid.

Attach oil pipes to the tractor.

Lift the machine clear of the ground and lift the back support leg up into its top hole so the leg is as far up as it can be.

UNFOLDING AND FOLDING THE HARROW

Unfolding

Remove road transport chains prior to unfolding the wings and hang the chains on the hook behind the headstock. Failure to remove the transport chains prior to unfolding will cause serious damage to the machine.

ENSURE the immediate area is clear from personnel and then operate the tractor spool valve to unfold the wings, lower fully to the ground.

NOTE: The wings may not unfold simultaneously which is normal.

Folding.

Operate the tractor spool valve until wings are in upright position.

Attach safety chains onto wings.

DO NOT transport the harrow without the safety chains attached.

ADJUSTMENT OF THE HARROW

Tine Angle

Raise the machine clear of the ground.

Adjust the tine angle to the required position by removing the pin and moving the handle to the required position.

Lower the machine to the ground until tines start to touch.

Height

Adjust the top link to ensure all the tines have even contact with the ground.

Adjust the guide wheels accordingly to how aggressive the harrow needs to work but don’t apply too much pressure. This is done by removing the pin and sliding the legs up and down. All sections should have the same adjustment.

SAFE USE OF THE HARROW

Fully lower the harrow to the ground.

Start driving forward. Excessive operational speed will cause rapid wear on the tines.

Maximum operational speed should be 7mph.

When turning the harrow must be lifted clear of the ground.

Adjust tyre pressure to suit ground conditions. Lowering tyre pressure will reduce the amount of bounce in the harrow.

NOTE: Failure to lift the harrow when turning could result in damage to the machine.

MAINTENANCE OF THE HARROW

Daily:

Check that all frame and wheel nuts and bolts are tight.

Check all hydraulic hoses and fittings for damage.

Check tine condition and breakages.

Weekly:

Grease and lubricate all areas indicated.

Long term storage.

Ensure all the tines are lifted from the ground and there is no pressure applied to them.

Clean machine thoroughly and paint any bare metal work.

Check all hydraulic hoses and couplings.

Grease thoroughly.

Check sections for wear or breakages.
