Harrow Men’s 1s vs. Henley Men’s 3s
It was a warm sunny afternoon as HHC Men’s 1st team started to warm up. The
whole team was thoroughly ready for this game following our 7-1 victory the
previous week. We opened the game hard and fast putting pressure straight on
Henley, within a few minutes we had them squeezed into their half. After some
fantastic pressure from the midfielders and attackers, Govind Grewal managed to
grab hold of a poor pass by the Henley defence. Having pretty much the whole D
to himself, Govind managed to fire off a shot slamming into the top of the net
leaving the goalkeeper stunned. 1-0 Harrow. Still keeping the pressure up, despite
the heat of the sun Harrow managed to sneak a short corner not long after the
first goal. A textbook routine allowed striker Nick lendon to touch the ball into
the net after a strike from captain Tim Marshall. Throughout the first half, harrow
managed to keep Henley supressed with strong periods of play. Despite this,
Henley managed to sneak a ball through the middle of the pitch to a forward who
managed to win a short corner. Unfortunately, they managed to convert this
chance making it 2-1. Despite this, Harrow continued to push forward and some
great long balls leading to Nick Lendon firing off a cross to Subra Naichipan who
got a sneaky touch to put it into the net. 3-1 At half time. After some strong
words from captain at half time about positional play, Harrow stepped out onto
the pitch set and ready to lay down the law. However, Henley had also clearly had
some 'helpful advice' from their captain and came out of the break fighting hard.
despite their relentless attempts to attack, each time it was broken down by the
midfield and defence, not giving Henley even a slither of hope. all the while,
Harrow and been sliding in small counter atacks, testing the Henley defence. after
some great attempts, Harrow managed to slot a goal in due to some great passand-move work down the left wing from Callum Redpath and James Pym, the ball
got to Govind. taking it through a defender and passing the ball off, to find Nick
Lendon to slam home the fourth.
