Job Purpose:
Overall responsibility for managing and ensuring best practice and high standards
of care in Quarriers Ventilation Service. The service offers ventilation support at
home for children and their families

Dimensions: i.e. budget, no of staff, areas of work etc.

Financial: Co-ordinator to manage budgets for packages, liaise with finance
department for invoicing and providing financial reports and manage
finance according to Quarriers policies.
Manager will provide support for staff based in dispersed locations across Scotland.

OBJECTIVES:
To achieve high standards of care and best practice in managing ventilation support to
children or adults who requires invasive or non-invasive ventilation support within their
home environment
To provide effective governance and ensure there are clear, safe protocols to ensure best
practice in the delivery of ventilation support
To maintain a good working partnership between Quarriers, NHS Trusts and other
partner agencies to ensure the delivery of high quality services.
To develop and maintain good working relationships with other agencies, and local
groups in order to work collaboratively to meet the needs of children and their families
To contribute to the further development of the service and similar related initiatives as
part of Quarriers strategic plan.
KEY ACTIVITIES:

To ensure that families referred to the service receive an appropriate and effective
service based on a thorough and accurate assessment of their needs.

To manage support to children or adults with complex medical needs
3.
To ensure staff are competent to contribute to and work to healthcare and support plans.
4.
To provide leadership and support to staff, ensuring effective team working and
communication.
5.
To promote the learning and development of all staff.
6.
To undertake responsibility for the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment for all.
7.
To maintain a system of recording the work of the service and the progress of individuals
within it.
To produce regular monitoring reports to partners.
To work within Quarriers’ professional and administrative policies and standards.
To keep abreast of policy and practice developments in the field of Ventilation support
To contribute to the development of new Quarriers services in line with Quarriers
strategic plan.
To continue to positively promote the work of the service both locally and nationally by
responding to requests both and internal and external for presentations, training, etc.
To contribute to the wider development of work with children and families within
Quarriers, including attending relevant senior staff and other meetings when required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience necessary for the role:
Essential
•
Qualification in Health, Social Work or Education
•
Extensive post qualifying experience as a practitioner.

Experience of working within a healthcare setting
•
Proven track record in a management capacity, including direct supervision of staff.
•
Experienced in implementing, maintaining and developing monitoring and evaluation systems.
•
Experience of chairing and facilitating formal meetings.

Awareness of the role of the voluntary sector in service provision to families.
