Abstract Submission
An abstract of 300-400 word outlining the content and conclusions of the paper should be e-mailed
to SCMT4 conference chair: chair.scmt4@unlv.edu

The official language of the conference is English.
Venue and Daily Schedule
The conference will be held at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, USA. The technical program will
include keynote lectures, invited papers, and parallel technical sessions.
Sunday afternoon (7 August, 2016): Registration and Reception
Monday (8 August, 2016): Opening session and parallel paper sessions
Tuesday (9 August, 2016): Parallel paper sessions
Tuesday evening (9 August, 2016): Banquet
Wednesday (10 August, 2016): parallel paper sessions and closing session

Conference Themes
Papers are invited on all the different materials that are used in construction including aggregates,
bitumen, cementitious materials (fly ash, wood ash, slag, silica fume, natural pozzolans, and other
similar materials), concrete, glass, gypsum, lime, masonry, metals, plastics, rock, timber, and other
materials of construction. Papers on paints, adhesives, preservatives, and preservation processes
are also welcome.
The themes include Carbon Credits. Carbon Dioxide Sequestration. Designing structures with
sustainable materials. Embodied energy from production. End of life-materials that can be
demounted/deconstructed and reused or recycled. Energy requirements for transport and
use. Energy management during construction. Energy management during use of the buildings
and infrastructures. Greenhouse gas reduction. Life cycle analysis. Making construction materials
durable. Maintaining quality and durability while achieving sustainability. Maintenance and repair
technologies for sustainability of buildings and infrastructure. Mass balance - sources and final
destinations of materials. New materials production and construction technologies using
innovative materials. Recycling of municipal solid waste (MSW). Combustion ashes. Sustainability,
quality, and public perception. Use of recyclable by-products in construction materials. Innovative
and non-traditional materials.
Awards
18 papers from SCMT3 were published in Construction and Building Materials Volume 67 Part A 30
September 2014. Also, additional papers were published by the ASCE-JMCE. We hope to be equally
successful at SCMT4.

Exhibits and Exhibition Fees
The conference will provide an opportunity for companies to display their latest products and
services in the field related to the conference themes. Those interested in having a display booth
should contact the conference chair at chair.SCMT4@unlv.edu for more details. The charge for
booth display is $2000 that includes full conference registration fee for one person. The charge for
table-top display is $1500 which does not include conference registration fee.
Sponsorships
Sponsorships are requested to support the conference. All sponsors will be recognized during the
session events. There will be three categories of sponsorships: Platinum (US$3000), Gold
(US$2500), and Silver (US$2000). Platinum sponsors will be offered a booth at no charge. The gold
and silver sponsors will be offered a tabletop display at no charge.
Accompanying Persons and after Conference Programs
The accompanying persons program includes shopping, visiting scenic attractions, and attending
shows.
The after conference program on 11 and 12 August, covers a tour of Hoover Dam and a visit to
Grand Canyon. More details can be found in the conference website.
About Las Vegas and Accommodation
Las Vegas is the 28th largest city in United States and an internationally known resort, shopping
entertainment, and gambling destination. The City has abundant sources for hotels, entertainment,
transportation, museums, hiking, canoeing, biking, and golfing. There are also beautiful and scenic
attractions around the Las Vegas Valley, such as Mount Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead,
and Hoover Dam.
For accommodation the conference participants may choose to stay at the wide range of the hotels
near the campus or in the Strip. Morning and afternoon bus transportation will be provided.

The registration fee includes morning and afternoon refreshments, daily lunches, morning
breakfast for presenting authors. Each registered participant will receive a printed book of
abstracts and CD-ROM conference proceedings. Additionally, up to two manuscripts are covered
by the full registration fee. For each additional manuscript, the extra fee will be USD 250.
