Teaching lives: the personal as pedagogy
Do you teach non-fictional texts?
Do you ask students to engage with 'the self' in their assessments?
Do you make use of social media in your teaching?
You are invited to a roundtable discussion on the personal as pedagogy. In this roundtable
we encourage participants to share their teaching and research ideas with the aim of
supporting scholarship of teaching research and potential collaborations on these topics.
Possible discussion issues include, but are not limited to:
-
examples of engaging 'the personal' in teaching
the ethics of teaching life writing or non-fictional texts
engaging with social media in teaching
the complications of students' self-disclosure in teaching contexts
the fraught notion of 'relatability': negotiating students' relationship to texts
When: Thursday, 29 October 2 - 4pm
Where: Humanities 262
Afternoon tea will be provided.
Please RSVP to Kate.Douglas@flinders.edu.au with a brief sentence or two outlining your
interest in this topic.
We will structure the session by having participants briefly outline their interest in these
topics, followed by an informal discussion across the issues.
