Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Amendment (Saving Energy, Growing Jobs) Act 2015 No. 61 of 2015 TABLE OF PROVISIONS Section 1 Purpose 2 Commencement 3 Section 30 substituted 4 Greenhouse gas reduction rates 5 Regulations 6 Repeal of amending Act ═══════════════ Endnotes 1 Page 1 2 2 3 3 3 4 General information 4 i Victoria Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Amendment (Saving Energy, Growing Jobs) Act 2015† No. 61 of 2015 [Assented to 18 November 2015] The Parliament of Victoria enacts: 1 Purpose The purpose of this Act is to amend the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007— (a) to specify the VEET scheme target for the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020; and (b) to provide that the VEET scheme target for each year from 2021 to 2029 is to be specified by regulations; and 1 Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Amendment (Saving Energy, Growing Jobs) Act 2015 No. 61 of 2015 (c) to require that the greenhouse gas reduction rates for electricity and for gas are to be fixed having regard to the VEET scheme target. 2 Commencement This Act comes into operation on 1 January 2016. 3 Section 30 substituted For section 30 of the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007 substitute— "30 VEET scheme target The VEET scheme target is— (a) in 2016, 5·4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent; and (b) in 2017, 5·9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent; and (c) in 2018, 6·1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent; and (d) in 2019, 6·3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent; and (e) in 2020, 6·5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent; and (f) in each year in the period commencing 1 January 2021 and ending 31 December 2025, the target prescribed for that year by regulations made not later than 31 May 2020; and (g) in each year in the period commencing 1 January 2026 and ending 31 December 2029, the target prescribed for that year by regulations made not later than 31 May 2025.". 2 Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Amendment (Saving Energy, Growing Jobs) Act 2015 No. 61 of 2015 4 Greenhouse gas reduction rates (1) In section 32(1) of the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007, after "Council," insert "on the recommendation of the Minister and". (2) After section 32(1) of the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007 insert— "(1A) In recommending the greenhouse gas reduction rates for electricity and for gas that are to be fixed in respect of a particular year, the Minister must have regard to the VEET scheme target in that year.". 5 Regulations In section 75(1)(l) of the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007, for "section 30(b);" substitute "section 30(f) and (g);". 6 Repeal of amending Act This Act is repealed on 1 January 2017.
