All Region and State Football Selections It’s time to prepare for the All District/region/State meeting. Here is a list of things that will help you to conduct your meetings. If you have any questions please contact Kyle Hauk at (325-277-8685). 1. Regional Meeting shall be held the week of December 2nd through the 6th following the 3rd round of the playoffs. (The All Region Meeting should be held Wednesday Morning at 10:00 a.m.) The All Region Directors should email a copy of the All Region Team to Kyle Hauk: tsmca6@gmail.com. Nothing will be published till after the State Games. Following the All Region meeting: Send Division I to Bret Tyler: bret_tyler@hotmail.com. Send Division II to Joe Helms: jhelms@grisd.com 2. Regional Selection Process- One district representative from each district in your region. The four Regional Directors will be selected by the All State Committee director. The Regional directors will pick one coach from each district. Please remind your district representative to bring stats on all first team players from their district. The purpose of the Regional director is to conduct the meeting and break any ties that there might be (the regional director will not vote, but will break any ties). All region teams should not be released before it is posted on the TSMCA web site. 3. The players on the All District and All Region teams may be selected on both sides of the ball. 4. All State Selection Process- The four regional directors will meet no earlier than the completion of the state championship game and no later than the winter directors meeting (It is recommended to be held on the Wednesday morning following the State Championship at 10:00 a.m.). Regional chairman need to bring stats on all first team selections from their region. The All State chairman should only vote to break ties. 5. Both Div. I and Div. II teams will be released by the Information Director on the official web site. PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE BEFORE IT IS POSTED ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE. 6. All State players may only be selected on one side of the ball Please avoid ties at the regional level. 7. NO DISTRICT OR REGIONAL OVERALL MVPS SHALL BE SELECTED. At the State Level the Overall MVP can be selected from any first team all region player. 8. At the all district, all region, and all state levels, Offensive and defensive MVP’s should be selected before position players. They should not occupy a position on the 1st team. It is very important to remember that after the district/regional level, an MVP of a district and or region does not trump an MVP or even another 1st team position of another district, or region, they are simply the MVP of that district or region. At the District and Regional level a player may be the Offensive MVP and hold a defensive first team position and vice-versa. 9. Requirements for New Comer of the Year: at district and regional and state level. Must be a freshman, sophomore or junior who has never played at the varsity level (at any school). Newcomer of the year may or may not hold a position. If Newcomer is voted worthy of holding a position then he will be voted into a position like any other player. 10. Kickers and Punters may be players who hold other positions on the all-region and state teams. 11. State Coach of the Year will be selected from all coaches in the state. Selection will not be limited to regional coaches of the year. Regional Coach of the Year can be selected from all coaches in the districts in the region and is not limited to just the coaches of the year of a district. 12. Ranking by positions: Starting at the District Level Ranking the players in each position should be a priority to help eliminate confusion at the next level. However, it is understood that players grow and improve over the course of a playoff run and possibly could have been ranked behind another athlete in the lower levels. It must be a unanimous vote of the selection committee to move a lower ranked player over an athlete that was selected over him at the lower level. Example of voting for position: Each school nominates and gives stats on each kid nominated, coaches discuss nominees. Then each coach votes for the nominees by ranking all the players nominated, including their own, with 1 being the best, 2 the 2nd best and so on. Then the director should tally the votes and the player with the fewest tallies is the top ranked player at that position and will be pushed first at the next level (all region, or all state).
