CHAPTER 6-12 LESSON ORDER FOR THE GENKI TEXTBOOK
Directions: Do work in the order outlined below. If you do not understand something, you can e-mail

Note: Parts highlighted in yellow below have already been covered in Japanese III class.
Chapter 6: (PATTON NOTES TO SELF: MUST FINISH REST OF CHAPTER 6 LESSONS INCLUDING
KANJI LESSONS).
Learn Chapter 6 kanji.
WB kanji worksheet. (Use hints from pg. 212 of teacher's book.)
Model pronunciation of Chapter 6 verb vocabulary.
Read textbook 118 grammar point about te-form (just "RU verbs").

Worksheet 9 (could be used earlier to review te-verb form.)
Teacher has someone ask, "toire ni itte mo ii desu ka." Teacher says, "hai, itte mo ii desu."
Student says, "nete mo ii desu ka." Teacher answers, "hai, nete mo ii desu yo."
Students guess meaning of above two lines and try to understand grammar pattern.
Read textbook 120 (Grammar Section 3, 1st section about ...te mo ii desu ka."

Textbook 124 IIA pair practice (partners should answer with ". . . te mo ii desu yo."
Students ask, "Nete mo ii desu ka." Teacher answers, "Iie, nete wa ikemasen yo."
"Fluffy wo tabete mo ii desu ka." "Iie, tabete wa ikemasen."
Students guess meaning and grammar pattern for ". . .te wa ikemasen."
NOTE: Most common way of answering in negative is, ". . .naide kudasai."
NOTE: Most common way of saying something is allowed is "Ee. Doozo. Ii desu yo."

Textbook 125C pair practice (ask questions and partner says, "Iie, . . . te wa ikemasen."

Review te-form from Chapter 6. Have students try to put new verbs in te-form.
Intern (or ryugakusei) calls me and asks, "nani o shite imasu ka."
I answer, "tabete imasu." "terebi o mite imasu," etc.
Students guess meaning.
Read textbook (Chapter 7 Grammar Point #1 up to top of page 137).
