Fast Facts/ BMO Volunteer of the Month
1. BMO Harris Bank is helping District 204 recognize one volunteer each month who has generously
given his or her time to support District 204’s students and schools. To celebrate these
outstanding volunteers, BMO Harris Bank is donating $1,000 to the volunteer's school. To

February Meeting – Stan Gorbatkin.
1. 2 middle schools are piloting a program where every student receives a tablet.
2. The reason for this test program stems from major textbook manufacturers moving to online
versions of text, rather than physical copies.

Dr. Sullivan’s Update
1.
Elementary Enrollment / Boundary Mapping
a) Overall, the district elementary enrollment is down 300 kids this year.
b) Boundary mapping is currently being re-evaluated due to some new housing being built
within the district. The District intends to announce any changes being made by winter
break.

Proof of residency for K, 3, 6, 7, 9 and 11
a) Every 3 years due to staffing and time it takes to verify residency.

Budget Update – Legislative Breakfast
a) A recent study showed that 5% of families in the District do not have internet access at
home.
b) To ensure all students have home access to complete homework, online classes and
projects, the District is working with local internet providers to offer special programs to
make this possible.
a) Children will only be tested once this year, rather than twice.
b) The state is moving to eliminate the ACT and replace it with the PARCC test. However,
District 204 is pressing to keep the ACT as this is the only opportunity for most kids to
take it.
a) Takes place at Still Middle School on 9/18/15. Continental Breakfast is served at 7:15am
and the program begins at 7:30am.

Heat Plan
1. When the effective temperature increases over 80°, the District implements a heat plan that
allows each student to rotate through “cooling rooms” 2 times a day (once in the morning and
once in the afternoon).

1. Box Tops, Gum Days (5th graders), Holiday Shoppe, Movie Night, Program Partners with Itzy Ritzy,
Amazon Smile and Movie Night. (more info to come on all programs)
2. Fall Fundraiser – KidStuff Coupon books
a. Cost is $25 per book and $12.50 of that goes directly to May Watts!
b. Great coupons to local stores, restaurants and attractions.
c. Our goal is to sell 400 books: at least one per family.

Dine and Donate – CHIPOTLE on Oct 22 (50% of proceeds!)
a) From 4pm-8pm at the Chicago Ave. location in downtown Naperville and includes dine-in
and carry-out. Make sure to mention May Watts when you purchase!

Fifth Grade Farewell
a) Attention 5th grade parents: PLEASE take photos of your child and others at various events
throughout the school year to be used in the slide show during the Fifth Grade Farewell.

Educational Enrichment [Sandy Beris]

STEM Night
a) October 7, 2015 from 6pm-8pm. Workshops offered by Cosley Zoo, Illinois Benedictine’s
Natural History Museum, Dempsey Dodge, Chrysler, & Jeep, Universal Technical Institute,
and more. Register by October 1st and pay only $5 per family. You can also pay at the
door that evening. Cost at the door is $10 per family. Please see http://wattspta.org/ for
