Remember the
5th November!’
What is ‘Fireworks Night’ all about? Why do we light
bonfires, burn the Guy and ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ at
fireworks? Explore the history behind it all and build
your own model Houses of Parliament.
Getting the
shakes
You will learn about earthquakes and their effects. You
will then design your own earthquake action plan,
shelter and survival kit and put it to the test!
Narnia and
Christianity
Using the well-known film of Narnia to explore
Christian ideas about Jesus. This includes watching
clips from the film, drama work and developing debate
skills.
‘Ye Merry Ol’
Feast’
Students will explore what Christmas was like in the
Tudor period creating their own festive menus through
research and key texts, specifically identifying the
differences between rich and poor.
Getting lost?

How do different cultures around the world celebrate
new year and new beginnings? Could this help you to
set yourself a set of resolutions to celebrate?
The U.K is blessed with numerous castles, but why
were they built and why so many different styles?
Learn about the history and architecture of castles and
explore how their function has changed over time.
Students will make their own castles too.
Exploring philosophical and religious ideas shown
through the Life of Pi. This session includes viewing
clips from the film and developing how we express
personal opinions in debates.
You will learn all about sustainable energy. You will
then see who can make the best miniature wind
turbine.
Philosophy for
children
Looking at events in the news and coming up with our
own thoughts of why, where, who, when, what etc.
Including creative task to sum up what has been
achieved in the session.

Olympics 2016
Learn what life was like in Ancient Greece by exploring
the fashion, food and politics amongst many other
facets. The session concludes with students
participating in their own mini-Olympics.
