ANNUAL REPORT FY 2013 2013 Efforts and Accomplishments TABLE OF CONTENTS Contents To Our Supporters ________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 Financial Summary _______________________________________________________________________________________ 2 Back In The Saddle Project ______________________________________________________________________________ 4 To Our Supporters STRATEGIC HIGHLIGHTS We will continue to help horses transition from a crisis to horses in great homes keeping the horses’ health and welfare a priority. We will continue to establish relationships with other rescue, shelters and horse interest groups that have this same goal in mind. . We hope by offering proactive help with feed and vet care, networking horses into new homes directly instead of increasing intake numbers We hope that by increasing our volunteers and foster homes we can make every donation go directly towards the shelter and care of horses that need our help. OPERATING HIGHLIGHTS In 2013 we added a satellite facility in Cottonwood and added a few more foster homes willing to help horses in crisis when the main facility was full. LOOKING AHEAD We will continue to try to expand and hope to have more foster homes, more satellite facilities and more programs to help horses and owners. We will continue to look for more volunteers and board members to help handle the always increasing number of requests for help. We would truly like to focus more on community partnerships and community involvement as well to help make the most of the resources that are available.. We hope to plan more events and increase the funds available to prevent neglect and overpopulation. We truly believe while it is important work to help horses in crisis it is imperative that we continue to prevent overpopulation through unwanted breeding. We will continue to hold true to our pledge to be a non-profit you will be proud to support Thank you from all the BITS team on behalf of the horses you have helped ! Deb Steward President Back In The Saddle Project Page 1 Financial Summary 2013 was another busy year helping horses and helping prevent neglect and overpopulation with hay and veterinary assistance. We exceeded our goal of $25,000 in donations and raised $30,316. This enabled us to take in 33 horses over the year and help 59 other horses in the community. While we still struggle with outside cash donations in a bad economy we have recruited new volunteers to help with fundraising events and are actively planning more events and tack sales.. In 2013 we have formed a relationship with tack stores, local land owners, feed stores and hay growers for more non cash donations to help reduce costs and increase non-cash donations BACK IN THE SADDLE PROJECT 2013 DONATIONS Non Cash (pasture, tack, feed) 22% Donations from Board Members 40% Grants 24% Public Cash Donations 14% Donation Type Grants Non Cash (pasture, tack, feed) Donations from Board Members Public Cash Donations Page 2 Amount $ 7,550 $ 6,700 $ 12,200 $ 4,380 In 2013 there was an increase of requests to take in horses from Animal Control agencies, private owners and horse resuces, and an increase of large herds of horses that needed temporary feed help until the horses could find new homes. .
