The Fourth Graduate Student Association meeting of the 2011-2012 academic
school year was held on October 19, 2011 at 11:45 in ECL 114.

Health Insurance Summit Recap
o As econcomy declines, need for health care rises
o Prescriptions – Of 4000 people at USC:
 Only 800 required a prescription
 Only 19 of 800 hit limit
o Adverse Selection
 People will only pay more if they need it
 These are almost always high users
 This hinders a multi-tier plan
o Only use ER if it is a matter of life and death
 Many urgent care providers are in network
 Many ER docs are not-these billed separately
o Health care reform may lead to new options
 Removes internal limits
 Removes pre-existing exclusions
 May allow for a multi-state consortium
o Stay tuned for Survey – AND ANSWER IT!

o Make CV anonymous as possible
o Be honest reporting expenses
