Generation Care Performance Center: Spine Care
Overview.
Generation Care’s spine care services employ a comprehensive, eclectic and evidenced-based approach to solving
neck and back pain and spine conditions. Every patient receives a thorough physical examination of the spine
and regional peripheral joints, followed by neurological and neuromuscular systems assessments to identify the
following:
 Pain Generator
 Contributing factors to spine-related pain with daily activities and movement patterns
Patient education is the foundation of our approach to empower the client to be an active participant in their
recovery and life-long wellness.
Our Spine Team includes certified specialists from:
 The McKenzie Institute
 The North American Institute of Manual Orthopedic Therapy
 The Institute of Physical Art
 The Mulligan program
 Board Certified, ABPTS, Orthopedic Specialists
How does it work?
Patients will receive a comprehensive treatment approach that fits the patient presentation as well as patient
and physician values. Each of our clinics has unloading modalities for progressive lower quarter loading with
optimal efficiency for acute/subacute injury including:
 Pilates equipment
 Redcord
 Suspension
Our goal for every patient is to maximize function and return-to-work and recreational activity. Worksite
ergonomic and performance analysis is also available for an optimal return to work or sport while reducing
recidivism.
Approach.
We use mostly our hands, teaching and specialized techniques such as manual therapy, strain-counter strain,
muscle energy and more to achieve proper alignment and stabilization of the spine. As an adjunct to
stabilization and re-balancing strategies, we may utilize spinal unloading options in the Pilates studio or other
options such as the pool. Bottom line – our spine care team is the best around, and they won’t rest until they
find the source of the issue, make every effort to resolve it, and give you strategies to help you… for life.

Generation Care Performance Center: Vestibular Rehabilitation for Balance and Dizziness
Overview.
At Generation Care, we have a team of therapists who specialize in vestibular and balance rehabilitation. There
are many causes of dizziness and imbalance. Our therapists will perform a comprehensive evaluation to
determine the specific source of your problem.
Causes and Symptoms.
One of the most common causes of dizziness is a condition called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
(BPPV). This dizziness usually starts first thing in the morning when you roll over to get out of bed or when
you lie down at night. You may also feel dizzy when you tip your head to look up toward the ceiling or when
you bend over. You’ll feel mild to severe dizziness that lasts less than 30 seconds. This specific problem is
caused by misplaced crystals (otoconia) in the inner ear.It is extremely helpful to seek treatment from a
vestibular therapist. Dizziness can also be caused by other conditions such as an inner ear infection, migraine,
Meniere’s disease, head injury or stroke (to name a few).
Process.
At Generation Care we use Frenzel lenses (specialized goggles connected to a computer screen). These goggles
help us to identify specifically which ear is involved and which canal your crystals are in. Next, we move the
head in specific, gentle sequences to put the crystals back where they belong. Sometimes, one treatment is all
that is needed to completely clear your dizziness. Our therapists are well trained at differential diagnosis, and
we will work closely with your doctor to determine the source of your dizziness. Following the assessment, the
therapist will work with you to establish a plan of care which may include exercises combining eye and head
movements to retrain the brain quickly, and challenging balance and walking exercises.
Balance Treatments.
Generation Care therapists also specialize in treating balance impairments. Balance conditions can be treated by
systematically evaluating the intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors for falling, and addressing each individually. An
individualized balance exercise program and treatment can result in a significant improvement in your balance
and reduce falls. Examples include:
 Posture
 Lower extremity strength and flexibility
 Postural recovery strategies
 Sensory orientation (the systems we use to maintain our balance)
 Shoes and foot issues
 Fear of falling
