We are pleased to issue a joint invitation to Shoreline School District staff
to apply for grants enhancing the educational opportunities
for Shoreline School District students.
The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council and Shoreline Public Schools Foundation are coordinating their
grants programs as follows in order to serve Shoreline staff better and more efficiently:

The application process opens the week of September 15, 2014. Application forms are available online at
www.shorelinearts.net and www.shorelinefoundation.org.

Please use only the current 2014-2015 application form.

Read and follow each organization’s Granting Guidelines regarding grant goals and eligibility.

All applications must be computer-generated or typed using no smaller than 10-point type.
(Note: If you submit a hand-written proposal, it will be rejected.)

Applications must be signed by a principal or administrator, and by the artist when applicable.

Applications must be received (via mail or hand delivered) by each organization by 4:00 p.m., Thursday,
November 13, 2014. You must provide signed copies of your application to EACH organization from which you
request funds – 10 signed copies to the Foundation and 4 signed copies to the Arts Council.

Notification of awards will be confirmed by the third week of December 2014.

Select grant recipients may be contacted to provide project displays by March 13, 2015 for the
Shoreline Public Schools Foundation’s Spring Event-Luncheon on March 26, 2015.

Selected grant recipients receiving Arts Council funding will be asked to submit digital photos of the project
within two weeks of completion.

SAMPLE BUDGET
Below is an example of a budget proposal. A budget outline is required with your application. Please use
the Excel document called “Budget Worksheet 2014” included with this application for putting together
your project’s budget. If you have questions or need further clarification, refer to the contact
information listed on the application cover sheet.
For an artist’s or consultant’s prep time, we use the following formula for calculating this time:
# of student contact hours x 0.60 = Prep Hours
(Approximately 40 minutes of prep time for every one-hour of student contact.)
The suggested rate for student contact time is $50/hour and prep time is $20/hour.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Respond to the following questions.

Project Overview: Describe your project in detail including what the project is designed to achieve, where
and when this project will take place, and other information requested in the respective organization’s
guidelines but not covered elsewhere in this application. You may insert a description from the Artist

be integrated into your project. What broader/long-term impact will participation in this project have on
students and teachers?

Target Audience: Who will be involved in this project? Describe teachers, students (include ages), parents,
community, businesses, etc. How have the needs of special or under-served populations in your school
been considered/included?
If your project involves a specific artist or consultant, please describe his/her personal accomplishments
and experience as an artist or consultant. Attach his/her resume to this application unless the artist
requested is included in the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council’s 2014-2015 Artist Roster and Art
Project Menu.
4.
Communication: Describe how you will share the outcomes of this project with colleagues and the
community, for example will there be a culminating activity/event and how will you publicize it to the
community? Please plan to acknowledge the granting organization(s) accordingly in any publicity and
event materials.
5.
Funding: Will this project proceed if funding is not received? How might you modify the scope of the
project if you only receive partial funding? Please outline funds already confirmed and/or your search for
other sources for funding. If needed, add any further explanation of the budget itemized on the Budget
Worksheet.
6.
Timeline: What specific steps will mark your progress toward completion? Include specific action items
and dates for completion.

Other Information: Include any other information that might be helpful to either of the grant review

Note: Any assessment model/tool used for this project must be submitted in addition to any final project
