Trinity Presbyterian Church Chuch A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America In Christ, For Corinth “Committed participants in God’s mission to redeem Corinth, Mississippi.” What Is God’s Mission for Trinity Church? The Lord Jesus summarized the goal of our lives God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit in grace and when he commanded, “Love the Lord your God truth. with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself.” God’s mission for our church is God’s mission for our lives. Think about it. God’s mission for our church includes the same mission for our families, our work, our recreation, our interests, our talents, our money, our time, our friendships, our dreams, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” our goals – To Love Him and To Love Others. How might that look? God calls his church to three major foci: to worship, to weave, to witness. WORSHIP Worship is the declaration of God’s worth in all of life. It is a way of saying, “God is therefore I am.” But Christians also participate in public worship, a weekly reminder of life’s right order. And from it, blessing flows. From living worship, a community is weaved. God calls His people to bind themselves to one another. God uses metaphors like bride, body, vine, tree, flock to describe us. These words are collective nouns - one, yet many. God uses this multi-cultural, multi-gifted, multi-familial community to create one voice, one life, one hope, one people. Anything less diminishes who we were created to be. Therefore, we, Trinity Presbyterian Church, will be a community that embraces, encourages, educates, and emboldens one another. WITNESS A woven community that sincerely worships will witness. Bearing the good news of Jesus is a yoke of pleasure given by our Lord, and is manifest As fish cannot live outside of the water, so humans through the gifts, interests, and opportunities cannot live apart from God. Those whom God has unique to our church in our time. redeemed know that to live, grow, bend, and blossom, he or she must stay strongly “connected” to the living God. Therefore, we, Trinity Presbyterian Church, will be a community that faithfully adores God the Father, 2 WEAViNG Therefore, we, Trinity Presbyterian Church, will strive to be a community that embraces the lost, hurting, and embittered in order to connect them to the Redeemer. PRAY How Then Shall We Live? We are a church committed to “knee-ology.” In order to foster a worshipping, weaving, and witnessing community, we will first need to be a praying community, demonstrating a dependence on God in everything. We are committed to making prayer our cornerstone ministry. We are a church committed to “do-ology.” Indeed, “we are saved by faith alone, but that faith is never alone.” Saving faith always expresses itself to Christ, church, and community. We cannot keep silent about this because it is the truth that concerns every human being. It is the truth about the human story. And so it must be told to everyone one until the end of time.” -- Leslie Newbigin 3 eager presence both within and without our community. PLAY “y’all” (second person plural). PROCEED light of God’s grace, and the freedom that comes with loving obedience, we plan on enjoying our time with one another. How Then Shall We Think? Trinity Presbyterian Church is a Christian church. It is therefore connected to followers of Christ from every kingdom, nation, tribe, culture, language, and ethnicity on earth. Christianity’s unique message is summarized in the word “grace.” It is God’s embrace of His enemies – us! Left to ourselves, we would never As a Christian church, we share in both the tragedies desire to know, love, serve, and honor God.
