Key Function
To provide generalist support and assistance to the Communications Unit
Position Responsibilities
General Communications






Assist with Communications Unit strategies to positively promote YMAC to
members, stakeholders and the general public.
Assist with Communications Unit strategies to promote YMAC’s services, successes
and people both internally and externally.
Assist with Communications Unit strategies to provide up-to-date information to
native title claim members on the progress of their claim.
Writing, event coordination, document and media release drafting.
Contact lists and database management.
General assistance as required.
Drafting, producing and distributing YMAC Publications








Native Title Claim Updates
Corporate Newsletter
Media release research and drafting
Factsheets and brochures
Sourcing relevant content for Blog
Drafting online content and ensuring YMAC’s website is regularly updated
Annual Report coordination
General assistance as required
Corporate
Physical Resources
 Take care of and responsibility for any physical resources during employment with YMAC
including IT, vehicles, equipment and related items
Information
 Ensure confidentiality, respect and professionalism is maintained in all business dealings
during employment at YMAC
 Ensure all relevant business unit information is maintained as directed.




Comply with relevant statutory and YMAC corporate systems, policies and procedures
Strive for continuous improvement by identifying and implementing better ways to complete
tasks

requirements for the organisation are met

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years in a communications or equivalent role
Skills:






Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
High level Office skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred.
Experience with website Content Management Systems
Experience with social media
Ability to work across multiple business streams
Knowledge:


Working knowledge of native title system, or background in Aboriginal affairs preferred.
Good understanding of State and Federal Government stakeholders
