Acclaimed International Trio hosted by Regional Gallery
The Murray River International Music Festival 2015 will see a performance in Broken Hill with Trio Sine
Nomine giving a performance of Trio Sonatas composed by J S Bach on oboe, violin and harpsichord.
The Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery has secured the one-off performance which will take place on
Saturday 24 January.
Gallery Manager Cathy Farry said it was wonderful to have the opportunity to host the trio.
“The international trio is one of the headline acts of the Mildura-based festival and we are grateful to
have the opportunity for the local performance,” Ms Farry said.
Journeying from Central America, Italy and the UK, the Trio’s sonata is an Italian born musical form,
similar to that of the Italian concerti or to the Violin Sonatas.
Born in Guatemala, Claudia Lopez studied violin in country and in Belgium. She has played for numerous
orchestras and at festivals throughout Europe and South America and currently resides in Rome where
she performs freelance with various groups.
Originating from Venice, Gianfranco Bortolato is a prize winning performer, who commenced study of the
oboe from the age of eleven. He has performed extensively as an oboe soloist throughout the Americas,
Eastern Europe, Australia, the Middle East and across Africa.
In 2003, Michele Benuzzi won third prize at the Yamanashi International Harpsichord Competition in
Japan. He performs in major festivals in Europe and Asia and founded Arcomelo, a group performing
seventeenth and eighteenth-century music, and examining baroque music.
Tickets are only $20 or $10 for concession holders and Art Gallery Members. All funds raised by the
concert will go towards the Art Restoration Project at the Gallery. Tickets are available from the Gallery at
402 Argent Street, Broken Hill. Tickets will be available on the night.
