GRADUATE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION SCHEDULE
Once you are admitted to The University of New Haven for the Fall 2015, please mark your calendar to attend
the August Orientation Events planned for you by the International Services Office. Graduate International
Student Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 18 from 8:30am-5:00pm. The day’s events will include
the mandatory immigration session and check-in as well as other programming for students. This is your
opportunity to meet other international students and make connections with various departments on campus.
International students are required to attend this one-day Orientation program.



Early Immigration Document Check-In at the International Services Office (Echlin Hall 200) runs from
22 July – 20 August 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Mandatory Check-In: August 17, 9 am to 2 pm, Alumni Lounge, Bartels Hall
Graduate International Student Orientation: Tuesday, August 18 from 8:30am to 5:00pm
Immigration Document Check-in
Immigration document check-in is required for all incoming international and exchange students (this includes
students who are transferring to the University of New Haven from another school in the U.S.). All students
need to bring original and photocopies of immigration for themselves and their dependents to the
Immigration Document Check-in. These copies must be made after arriving in the U.S. to reflect the arrival
stamp. Please bring and make copies of the following:
a) The completed ISO Student Check-in form
b) Passport biographical page (containing photo, number, issue date, expiration date, etc.)
c) U.S. student visa stamp (F-1 or J-1). Canadian students are exempt from this step.
d) I-20 or DS-2019 visa document (mailed to you by UNH). Sign the bottom of page 1 before copying!
e) Any previous I-20 or DS-2019 if you are transferring to UNH from another school in the U.S.
f) If you worked under a previous immigration status, any previously issued Employment Authorization
Documents (EAD).
g) I-94 record - You will not have an I-94 record until you have entered the United States with the
above documents! Go to www.cbp.gov/i94 to find your electronic I-94 record (save as a PDF file).
h) F2/J-2 dependents must also bring the dependents’ documents (I-20/DS-2019, paper or print-out of
electronic I-94 and passport) along with copies of each document.
Once an international student has completed all the above steps and attended the mandatory immigration session, the
International Services Office can activate the international student’s status in the SEVIS government database.
