Immigration Document Check-in
Immigration document check-in is required for all incoming international and exchange students (this
includes students who are transferring to the University of New Haven from another school in the
U.S.). All students need to bring original and photocopies of immigration for themselves and their
dependents to the Immigration Document Check-in. These copies must be made after arriving in the
U.S. to reflect the arrival stamp. Please bring and make copies of the following:
a) The completed ISO Student Check-in form
b) Passport biographical page (containing photo, number, issue date, expiration date, etc.)
c) U.S. student visa stamp (F-1 or J-1). Canadian students are exempt from this step.
d) I-20 or DS-2019 visa document (mailed to you by UNH). Sign the bottom of page 1 before
copying!
e) Any previous I-20 or DS-2019 if you are transferring to UNH from another school in the U.S.
f) If you worked under a previous immigration status, any previously issued Employment
Authorization Documents (EAD).
g) I-94 record - You will not have an I-94 record until you have entered the United States with
the above documents! Go to www.cbp.gov/i94 to find your electronic I-94 record (save as a
PDF file).
h) F2/J-2 dependents must also bring the dependents’ documents (I-20/DS-2019, paper or printout of electronic I-94 and passport) along with copies of each document.
Once an international student has completed all the above steps and attended the mandatory immigration session,
the International Services Office can activate the international student’s status in the SEVIS government
