Summary: Work Experience

Journalism: Editor, feature writer, and news reporter for trade and consumer
publications including four-color magazines and newspapers. Freelancer with
successful placement on topics related to health, travel, sustainability, spirituality,
natural products, corporate social responsibility, marketing and business
administration, entertainment and features. Book editor for various media and
health projects.







Education: Teaching assistant at University of Colorado and Colorado State
University; business speaker and guest lecturer on sustainability, journalism and
marketing communications.
Research: Director of research responsible for launch of new research
departments for two media organizations. Currently Chief Research Officer at
Groundwork Research, a qualitative market research firm focusing on
sustainability-related issues. Ethnographer at the University of Colorado.
Generated annual LOHAS Market Trends Report, establishing the first U.S.
benchmark figures for that industry.
Business Communications: PR and marketing communications specialist
specializing in sustainability and community development. Assisted domestic and
international companies with public relations, market research, marketing
communications, advertising, and media relations. Provided communications
support for statewide Colorado Rural Revitalization Project, a Kellogg
community-development program. Produced newsletters for various
organizations.
Non-profit Management: Vice President and Interim Executive Director of sixcounty regional economic development organization in southern Colorado.
Grant Writing: Writer of successful government and academic funding proposals
for various projects from conferences to tax incentives for new industry.
Conference Organization: Conference director and coordinator for business and
academic conferences. Post-doctoral Fellow at University of Colorado’s Center
for Media, Religion and Culture responsible for coordination of two annual
seminars, including publicity, and education program.
Public Speaker: Presenter at international business and academic conferences on
sustainability and media topics.
