Global Emissions Systems
Tonight’s award is presented to Global Emissions Systems Inc., a privately held Canadian company,
located here in Whitby that specializes in the design, engineer, and manufacture of the world leading
emission control technology. This technology dramatically reduces smog and greenhouse gas exhaust
emissions of any commercial fuel burning engine. Twelve years of research and development produced
their patented and proprietary advanced emission reduction technology called Dry Selective Catalyst
which can reduce us up to 99% of Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbon and Nitrogen Oxides from fossil fuel
combustion engines. Unlike other technologies GESi is recyclable and doesn’t add toxic emissions to the
environment – this is a good thing!
Global Emissions Systems Inc was incorporated in 2001 with its’ first operational year in 2008. The
company was born out of need from President, Eric Latino’s first business over 30 years ago which
specialized in high performance cars and race car engines. When Drive Clean came out in 1999 Eric could
not find any commercially available technology to get the high performance cars to meet the emissions
standards. So together with Ron Krentz they developed the patented “Dry Selective Catalyst”. For a
number of years this technology went unnoticed until Al Gore travelled the world on his “Inconvenient
Truth” tour and the suddenly the phones at GESi were ringing off the hook!
Global Emission Systems customers include a variety of corporate and commercial industries that deploy
their technology in not only a large industrial scale operation but also in small engine applications. Many
municipalities, towns & cities have used this technology for public arenas and skating rinks, grass cutting
and snow clearing equipment.
GESi benefits business and ultimately our environment by assisting business’s in reducing their carbon
footprint with the reduction of greenhouse gas & smog related emissions as well as improving work
place safety by eliminating toxic odors and gases where fuel burning equipment, machinery & vehicles
are being used. Ultimately this contributes to the health and wellness of their employees.
GESi keeps abreast of all current research and development with a wealth of knowledge of current and
emerging regulations and training procedures. Not only does Global Emissions Systems care about the
environment but they also recognize that being environmentally conscious begins at home. Their
environmental policies include recycling of standard paper, all plastics and metals. In their
manufacturing environment they recycle any waste metals and all products are 100% recyclable. They
have completed an energy retrofit of all plant lighting through the Eco-Energy Retrofit Program and the
Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation. In addition they are in the process of drawing up
plans for a new manufacturing facility to be built in the future which will be LEED qualified, have
multiple renewable energy technologies and will feature rainwater capture as well.
They continue to raise the bar in emissions control for the benefit of our community especially our
children, who deserve healthy and clean air.
